Has a fan(s) ever been killed at a NASCAR santioned race?

I know this has happened at local short tracks, etc. But at an actual NASCAR event (one of the three major series) Also, this would be as a result of something on track or in the pits, not a heart attack in the stands, or hit by a bus in the parking lot.
 
No, I don't think so at least I can't ever remembering hearing anything like that and I have searched around the internet and can't find anything either.
 
No, but it is quite possible. I saw a tire go over the fence a few years ago at Talladega. Luckily, it was in a turn with no spectators but had that happened on the front stretch, it would have likely killed those in its path. But there's a greater chance of dieing on the interstate in your own car.
 
Evidently there has been nothing major. I'm sure they would have listed it here on this site if it was.

There was a fan killed in Charlotte (Lowe's Motor Speedway) a few years back, but it was an IRL event...I think a tire went into the stands. Humpy Wheeler stopped the race, canceled the rest of the event, and the IRL has never been invited back to Charlotte.
 
I know that somebody got killed in the stands when a car driven by Richard Petty went out of control when he attempted drag racing but I have never heard of a fatality at a track due to a crash. If not for restrictor plates there probably would have been some fan fatalities at Talladega by now.
