Since these are short, free streaming cartoons I decided to give these a look.
First of all, it's nice that Kadokawa made these available worldwide and even went to the trouble of providing an English subtitled version for foreign fans. However, said subs can often be quite awkward and I noticed in the later episodes that they then took that to just being lazy/error filled.
I'm glad that they seemed to have dropped the cell shading as they went. Japan is obsessed with cell shading/CGI, despite the fact it often looks clumsy and their regular animation easily puts it to shame, as is clearly the case here.
There are some funny gags in both mini shows, but the further I went the more I noticed the creepy otaku appeal elements. Most of these seemed focussed on the purple haired girl (is her name Nagata or some such?) with the increasing jokes of her becoming a shut in obsessive abandoning more ranged interests to play loli hentai games. I think if they'd used it once it could have been an amusing bit of satire but with each passing episode they kept focussing it and celebrating it, seemingly trying to make the character an idol for real folks that act like it. That for me is when the creep starts to set in and kill the funny. However, apparently not content with that, they then started a weird lesbian baby angle with her...wow.
I think clearly this is one of those SD parody shows that is really aimed at existing fans. There are some generally amusing moments (more so in those 'smoked cheese' things) but in general this looks to be swimming in the same themes that kept me away from the main show.
