Harry Potter

Oh yeah. Having just re-read the 6th book, it pretty well explained why the prophecy was necessary, but that was absent from the film.

I think one of the problems, was that whilst the other books/films kind of build up to a conclusion, this one felt almost tagged onto the end. For instance, in the Philsophers Stone they gradually find clues that lead up to the end of the story. I think the Order of the Pheonix is a bit disjointed in this sense. Whilst the scenes with Umbridge were funny, they had no real bearing on the outcome. That made me feel that it was too slow in places.

I haven't read the books just yet, as I like the films and as such will do so when the whole series has finished. Luckily I have my wife, who is a big Potter fanatic and can fill in the details for me that have been omitted.
I thought the film was fantastic, and by far the best of the series so far. Daniel Radcliffe's acting in this is second to none and you can see just how much he has improved from the first film. The only part that I was disappointed in was that they didn't explain the full prophecy that the book describes. My wife filled me in on the full prophecy at the end of the film and this part is the most important part of the book.
The visual effects are certainly stunning, and I though that Michael Gambon has certainly made the role of Dumbledore his own since his first appearance in GoF.
A great film and looking forward to November 2008 when the next film 'Half Blood Prince' is released.

i suppose he would act harsher due to the darker nature of the films, that makes a lot of sense!

I thought his balance was a lot better in this one, in the last one in particular i didnt like the scene after harry's name just came out of the goblet and gambon had him by the throat...too much! but on the other hand, i thought harris was too much the other way!

maybe i'll never be happy :D
