Harry Potter

Just seen it, want to watch it again! Of course, I don't think there is any comparison of the book so I've stopped doing that and managed to enjoy the film as just a film.

It was the best yet, but I really can't see it as a childrens film anymore, I was scared and I'm 22! Ha!

The last segment was the best bit imho, after they enter the department of mysteries. I nearly cried, had a big lump in my throat during quite a few scenes actually, but I'm not sure if that was because I was re living the books... weird!

The acting has definately improved from the trio, but, as much as I really really like her, I think Emma plays Hermione too seriously and dramatically, Shakespearean (sp?) almost.

Rupert was great, but I am biased because I think he's a bit gorgeous! Wrong wrong wrong I know, he is but a child!

The effects blew me away, and I'm not usually into such things, they just wash over me, but the fight scenes at the end were incredible. I always wondered how they would pull it off on film without looking silly but the way they wooshed about like sand and the violent camerawork worked together really well.

Also, was not expecting Harry narration, after initial shock, I think it worked well, maybe should have been used earlier as gave more of an insight into Harry's character.

Kreacher was a bit rubbish, I expected him to be more obviously hateful and vindictive, but he seemed just a bit moody, like a bear with a sore head.

Grawp was much less ugly than I imagined him, he was kind of cute.

Well, theres my random thoughts.:D

overall it made a great film, if you have read the book beware lots has been missed out but it would be impossible to get it exact.

Worth watching

im sure many people will disagree with me but i thought that was the best harry potter film by far! it was funny, scary, sad, interesting and i cant think of one dull moment! there may have been some rather large cuts from the books but it still made sense to me
The only cut i was a bit annoyed by was the department of mysteries part at the end, i thought what was a fantastic scene in the film anyway could have been made even better if it was closer to how it was in the book, like Ron going crazy, the room with all the doors, Hermione being knocked out, Ginny breaking her ankle, Neville not being able to talk etc..
Even with these cuts i still think it was the best film, however i must say that the kissing scene was completely overrated :D

ach, it's nearly the end of term, JKR has done so much for kiRAB' reading in this country - I'm a teacher and I say oh well never mind!!! :D :D

I went Saturday afternoon it was fab apart from the 5 noisy 12/13 year olRAB next to me. Grrr!! Unfortunately I took them :o :o

It was well translated from the book, it's funny I thought it would be really hard to do because there is less 'action' in that book. Although it's a huge book but lots about emotions and feelings, so actually once they were edited out I was surprised how much action there actually was still.

Having said hat i would have liked it be longer ... would have liked to see more of the Order, Snape's sessions with Harry, etc.

But the special effects were great. the Weasley twins leaving was really good (think they should have been clearer about the twins 'business ideas though' ) and the final part was really well done. It was totally silent in the packed cinema then!

Thought it was half-decent. Like many though I compared it to the book at every turn. And it just doesn't match up. The dialogue scenes just didn't grab me like the book did. Chunks were also missing out.

It did have a few plus points though. The casting for the new characters was very well done. Imelda Staunton stole the show as Umbridge. It was as if they picked her up out of the book. Only Snape/Rickman and Molly Weasley/Walters come close to that from previous movies. Bellatrix was also casted well. I pictured her as taller but Helena Boham-Carter did brilliant. Same goes for Luna and Tonks.

Saw it earlier on today! Was good! :) I was falling asleep by the middle/end,.. my eyes kept closing! I don't know why!
So i'm going back to see again to watch it properly.

I really liked it. Really funny at some bits. It's not a film for those who haven't read the books. My dad thought it was really hard to follow.

I don't care about people thinking their was political views or hermoine is played too shakespearan
the simple fact is
ITS A FAB FILM and the best HP film yet
I just wish it where longer i think it could of carried another 20 mins but for children it would be a bit long so

I didn't love it but I liked it a lot. It was too choppy and because of this any build up to a climax was lost. They should put back in the 20 mins or so that they cut out after test screenings from the sounRAB of things.

All of the acting was great and I did like the grit that yates brought to the film. My favourite bit was the possession scene, I was surprised at how well done it was and thought Daniel Radcliffe did that scene beautifully.

I just watched it, and I thought it was good.

There are alot of ommisions from the book, and for that reason the book is far superior, but still a good film.

The special effects are really something.

I'm going to watch the film @ an IMAX cinema next week, should be even better

Saw it this morning!

Some bits were omitted but there were no plot holes, such as:
The xmas visit to St mungos- nevilles parents- instead Neville comes up to harry after a DA meeting and tells him.
Cho and Harry going out - they only have the one kiss, and don't go to Hogsmeade to the love caf

I did enjoy it, but was dissapointed in the bits they missed out and the bits they added to it, i.e. blasting through the door to the room of requirement and them all having detention with Umbridge's carving pens, that didn't happen in the book - if they took things out, why add bits that aren't in the story? Doesn't make sense really. Also they rearranged some things as well.

I think because i only just read the book again it was very fresh in my mind, wish i hadn't read it so soon now.

Does anyone know where the grey stripey top that Hermione had on when they took Umbridge to Grawp comes from? Thanks!

I still can't believe that people compare it to the books! What a pointless exercise!

1. Book and film are totally different media.

2. You can't include everything from a large novel in the film.

3. It stops you enjoying the film, as you look for missing bits.

STOP doing it and just enjoy both.
