Harry Potter Characters...

What do you think of the actors in the three films? Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint etc

Can you give me your personal opinions on these actors?

I personally don't think Emma Watson (Hermione) is that good... but... what do you think of her and all the rest?

I've heard people say Daniel Radcliffe isn't really good... Why??

I think Emma Watson is the best out of the 3 main actors in the Harry Potter films. Rupert Grint is also good.

Daniel Radcliffe can be ok, but he still is'nt that great.

None are great. Rupert has raw talent, Emma suffices and Daniel has a lot to learn. However, the recent films show their lack of acting experience doesn't damage the film. The First film does suffer, though.

Rupert Grint has been the most consistent over the films, and does have the making of a good actor.

Daniel Radcliffe is average at best. I just don't think he does the part justice, and if he sticks around for 'Order of the Pheonix' he'll have trouble pulling off some of the darker moments.

Emma Watson wasn't that good in the first two films, but was very good in the third, and is obviously gaining confidence as she gets older.

The guy who plays Draco Malfoy (don't know what his name is) is very good, and portrayed the Malfoy's dark past well in even the first film. That haircut in Azkaban is just wrong tho'!

Oh gosh, you see I find Tom Felton the worst actor! In the first film he was ok, but the second especially shows that he just can't project his lines well. Its like he actually has trouble saying them. It really bugs me, though he does look the part
. :)

Daniel Radcliffe is a very wooden actor. He looks like Harry should look but is quite wooden. Rupert Grint can be very wooden at times as can Emma Watson.

They do a good job though, but I like the supporting cast much better and they are actually better than the main cast. Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, Robbie Coltrane, Richard Harris (RIP), Richard Griffiths, Snape (Forgotton the Actors name) because they are ALL great British actors and actresses.

I tend to agree with you - I'm been particularly impressed by Maggie Smith & Alan Rickman. But the kiRAB... I just pretend they're not there  It's not that they're appalling all the time but there's no depth in the characater. With the character of Ron that is in part due to the writing that has turned him into comic figure and given Hermione his important lines, but I don't think Rupert is good enough to make the best of what he's got.

i mentioned in another thread that Rupert Grint is so bad he almost ruined the first two films single handedly but the third film was so good imo it detracted from his awfulness-daniel radcliffe is average and i don't really notice hermione for some reason-she is just there making up the numbers saying the lines as written

Awful they may be - but I don't like the idea that they are considering replacing them after the next one! They should stay until the end of the series!

None of the child actors are particularly good. I have mentioned this in another thread, but I find them all a little wooden with a horrible ability to over-pronounce every other word (esp. Emma Watson).
They seem to be playing caracatures of the characters at times rather than trying to make the part their own (although this seems to work in Rupert Grint's favour whose character is somewhat cartoonish anyway).

That said, they would pale in comparison to some of the other big name actors on-screen, and I feel that it was a slight mistake on the producer's part to contrast 'classic talent' with 'fresh faces' so readily.

I'm sure that they will grow into better actors over time, but it is fairly 'stage school' and static at the moment. Ironically, they could do with a variety of parts to counterbalance their present experience, but in all likelyhood they'll be 'the kiRAB from Harry Potter' for the rest of their (perhaps short) careers.

Alan Rickman, as always is quality. I seriously think in his (limited) number of film roles, he can be rated up there with the likes of Robert de Niro as a great actor.

Hmmm, I do admire the three kiRAB but feel they all could have benifetted (sp?) from intense acting lessons before they started filming. Even though the director made a hash of it, I think they were particularly good in the 3rd film.

The other problem with Tom Felton as Draco is that Felton's age is two or three years older than the character that he is portraying. This will cause problems in future films as they will take longer than a year to make.

I think that the over-pronounciation is what Hermione is like anyway, so it didn't seem a surprise to me when she did this.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Luna Lovegood is portrayed in the films (barmy girl from Order of...).

There will also be some other good additions to this film, Tonks is cool, Grawp could provide some comedy. I wonder if they'll keep the same Mad Eye Moody?

At of all the cast Alan Rickman and Maggie Smith are the best actors in the films I would say. They seem right for the parts.

Also Julie Walters is great as Mrs. Weasley.
