Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkabhan

I have no idea how you can prefer the first two movies to this latest one- they're atrocious! And as for the 'pointless images', it may have a little to do with cinematics, setting the scene, portraying feelings....? No....? Yeesh.

Yes Sirius is Harry's godfather. He was a close friend of James and Lilly (Harry's parents) as was Proffesor Lupin who is the Defence Against The Dark arts teacher in POA.

I have to say POA is the best of the books, with OOTP second. I really struggles with Goblet of Fire very slow if you ask me.

Good film, very different to the others. Much darker tone and the unusual jumping from scene to scene helped create the forboding atmosphere. One complaint is that they completely missed out Harry's studies. No exams, unlike the book.

Come on, nothing that major was emitted, at least NOTHING compared to the first two. Of course things could have been expanded on a little more, ie. the marauders map, the firebolt, sirius being the secrte keeper etc., but what? About 20 seconRAB 'wasted' on the cinematics shots? Shock! Horrror!

Things were omitted, small things, which made the sequence of main events wrong, and therefore more confusing for non-readers. And like you said things were sketchily featured, the firebolt should've been stripped down etc. due to the threat that there was that Sirius Black had sent it to Harry. Instead this detail was thrown in loosely at the end. The movie didn't come close to capturing the plot of the book effectively IMO. The cinematic shots were pointless, the did not set the mood, in fact they destroyed it because that Disney-type background music was pathetic. It was also way too LOTR. They modelled the affect the dementors had on the surrounding environment, as well as the look of the dementors, on the chill the Nazgul introduced in the atmosphere. I found this majorly irritating.

If you disagree that's fine.. I just personally can't see what was to like about this movie at all. :(

Think about how the dementors are described. There really was no other way- I don't remember the Nazgul turning everything to ice and flying, but there you go. Maybe you would have preffered hooded welps running about singing in the disneyeque country?

My god, do none of you read these treaures?

Sirius IS harrys godfather, but this is not a role which links people by blood, therefore Dursleys are not relatives.

Gottago, the film cannot be credited on plot, as it is based on a book, if you get me.

I saw it at 3pm, and i was VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED, in fact, I really, REALLY enjoyed it!

*spoilers here on in*

The one thing which I felt made it rather odd was the way the location of places had moved, and things had been added. For example, the rather rickety looking thing attached to hogwarts, the location of Hagrid's cabin, the location of the Whomping willow (which has improved) and most obviously the Fat Lady (why would they have a secret common room door in such an open place? Dawn French was good though!)

However, acting had improved no end, and there were no cringeworthy moments with the child actors like there had been previously.

There have been reviews which say that the film is a little rushed and I agree, it felt quite short and hurried, with some major plot points flossed over. However, the pacing remains constant and nice subtle scenes are layered between the action pieces, for which the new CGI creatures were very good (not a patch on LOTR though)

And book changes..... there arent THAT many obvious ones, but the one that bothered me most was Peter Pettigrew and the scene were Harry saw him on the map.... It just seemed rather premature and then the actual arrival of Sirius was a little too late, and he didnt say as much as I would have liked.

However, i'll end on how the film ended- the firebold was finally introduced....... i liked the way it ended on a high, kind of similar to how POTC did. When harry's face froze of screen, i was like, wtf? but then the map came up and he said 'mischeif managed', it made me smile, and I realised it was a really good ending to a great adaptation (bearing in mind the predecessors sucked)

I give it 8/10. Slick, stylish, dark and still funny!

SPOILERS in spoiler tags below!

Saw it, liked it. Hermione is great!

Loved her lines e.g. "Does my hair really look like that from the back?" and punching Malfoy - not sure if I should laugh at violence but it was funny - the audience in the cinema I was in clapped!

I agree that the ending came along a bit quickly. Could have been a longer film - would have liked to have seen more Sirius! Perhaps we could have seen him in Azkaban before he escaped?

Loved David Thewlis as Lupin!

The Nazgul incidentally had winged beasts so spent some time in the air. The dementors were supposed to have "rattly breath" that much I remember clearly enough. Was mentioned in most of their book appearances but made no issue of in the movie. The had cloaks, I'll admit. But the skin wasn't supposed to be bony like those of the ringwraiths.. but fleshy and icky rotten! Lol, I was totally against the disneyesque countryside so hooded welps would've quite possibly caused me to walk out. :p I just thought it looked so fake how they hung about in the air outside the castle in many shots, yet whenever Lupin and Harry were seen on an alternate side of the grounRAB there was no sign of dementor presence in the air. Clearly they abandoned their posts when the man with the ability to turn into a stretchy-flexy wolf came into view.
