Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince

I've not long come back and I have to say I really enjoyed the film

I admit that things were changed dramatically, I didn't understand the whole burrow thing, but the film as a whole was good.

I still have to say that I prefered it to Order of the Phoenix, I really didn't like that film at all. Like people have said before in this thread, I don't understand why such dramatic parts were cut to add some parts that had never been mentioned in the books. I was disappointed that the gaunts were not mentioned at all in the film, personally I think they play an important role within book 6 and leading into book 7. I also think that some reference should have also been made about the death of Sirius. Like it's been said, Sirius left Harry his house and Kreacher, surely that should've been mentioned in the lead up to the final film.

I went with a non follower, and they managed to understand what was going on quite easily, without having watched the previous five films. It was nice to see the spot light shift to other characters for a change in this film, Draco for example.

It's definately my favourite out of the six, although I'm holding out for Deathly Hallows, my favourite by far of the books. I just hope that the battle scenes are kept the same as in book and not cut like they have been in HBP

Yeah I love the Quidditch World Cup scenes to. I would have loved to have seen more of the match though.

I think the special effects were great at the end when Voldemort returns it was really sad though when Harry took Cedric's body back and his Dad saw him.

I also thought Mr Filch was funny in GOF when he was always setting off the cannon early and was it me or when he was running at the begginning he looked funny. :D

Not its not, thats when they go home for christmas unless i am mistaken.I read this in the test screeners report . . .

During Christmas at the Burrow, Ginny and Harry wind up on the stairs alone and start to lean into each other to kiss, when the attack on the Burrow interrupts them.

At the begining its the death eaters then Harry and Dumbledore looking for slughorn!! Which is why i was suprised it was the first 12 minutes and not later in the movie that is being turned into 3D. Unless they have a lot of destruction etc by the Death Eaters i can't see what else could hapen at the begining.

Oh and for anyone who is intrested here is what else the test screener had to say, they describe the movie quite a lot so if you don't want to know spoilers don't read it!!

Today I got to see the test screening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It took place in Chicago at the AMC River East. It was a secret screening, no one in the audience was supposed to know before hand what they were seeing. I was one of only a small handful who already knew what we would be seeing, but I was sworn to secrecy. It was truly the hardest secret I ever had to keep.

It was not entirely complete, however aside from a few blue screens in the background, and one or two special effects missing, it was barely noticeable.

I am a huge fan of Ginny and Harry so I will start with them. There is a lot more Ginny than ever before. She nearly equaled Ron for screen time. We first see her at the Burrow when Harry arrives outside and the first thing he sees is her reading through the window. Harry Just stanRAB there for a moment, gazing up at her. Although she is dating Dean Thomas she never looks happy with him, except when she is snogging him at The Three Broomsticks. She was on the Gryffindor Quidditch team. But the only game we saw was from the Felix Felicis chapter when Ron believes Harry has slipped him the potion. During Christmas at the Burrow, Ginny and Harry wind up on the stairs alone and start to lean into each other to kiss, when the attack on the Burrow interrupts them.

The Burrow does not burn down, but it is surrounded by a ring of fire conjured by Bellatrix. Harry, seeing Bellatrix, runs after her, and Ginny runs after him, right into Greyback. But Harry comes to the rescue and the two of them stand in a very high growing cornfield fending off attacks from the deatheaters. Lupin and Tonks come to the rescue, but that is I believe the last we see of them. There is no Tonks and Lupin relationship and although Tonks

Shit can make money have you not heard of the twilight films ect ?

What I'm talking about are films of real substance that you want to tell people about because there are just things so amazing you will not see them in any other film or a story and characters that will grip you. Not just yes they made $5 billion so that's why you should see them.

I talk to other HP fans who read the books and are into the story and characters and you can get a real conversation, I do the same with the movie watch and they are like hmm yeh it was ok I can't wait for scary movie 11.

I talk with an LOTR book fan and you get in depth conversation, do the same with a film watcher and nearly everyone who has seen all 3 properly will love them and you can have a proper conversation with them about it.

This is what I mean -- this was their last chance to make up for Order of the Phoenix, but this film was nearly unwatchable. The first four films aren't perfect, but they're entertaining, and by comparison, very watchable. There was a distinct plot, and it followed through.

What I mean by last chance, is that they sort of had an excuse for Order of the Phoenix; it's the longest book, and the narrative to action ratio is worse off for the people involved with making the film.

But the Half-Blood Prince had so much going for it, as a book, that they just left out in favour of... I don't know what, exactly. The humour? The romance that was only supposed to be one part of the story? And even with the humour and romance, they never spent more than 5 minutes on any one plot point.

And now they've blown it. That was the last film with the regular Harry Potter formula -- the Deathly Hallows has no choice but to be good because of the change of everything and the sheer amount of action, but then I thought that about this film, and I was SO wrong. AND to add to all of this, they've got the same director on for Deathly Hallows.

So they might mess that up as well. Someone upthread mentioned how long it'll be before the films are remade with a different cast and creative team. I was thinking the same thing these past few days, but seeing this film has made me so bitter about the whole book-to-film thing.

Cirque du Freak better not have the same failings.

Oh I jus remembered that I hav to tell you lot something. Dont know iftits been mentioned before but ‘HP & the prisonar of Azkhaban‘ is number 471 in Epmire magazines list of the 500 greatest movies ever made. How amazing is that?

The only thing that made me cringe was the relationship between Ginny and Harry. It's kinda odd because:

A) It's all very sudden because the previous year he had a thing with Cho Chang and hardly acknowledged Ginny.

B) There's no Chemistry between them in the films whereas in the book you KNEW they had that spark, (Although that could be down to the woodenness of Bonnie Wrights acting)

I was looking on the Leakynews site and someone comments that the sun story is false.

" Warner Bros have confirmed that the report, which originated with The Sun, is false. It stated that many fans were upset with the film, giving many quotes.

The information they gathered was actually from the Chicago screening that took place last September. This is the only screening of Half-Blood Prince that has taken place."

This link was posted aswell.
