Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince

For me its actually, the films have goton better

SS was meh alrite whilst COS was much better but still the columbus style just didnt work - too much cheese!

POA was the first film which actually took itself seriously and Cuarons artistic approach bought about a much darker tone which i enjoyed. GOF was the "epic" film and whilst some hated it i thought they balanced the funny and dark scenes very well - the priori incantotem being one of the best scene in the whole series so far IMO

OOTP was IMO the best hp to date, it matured up so much and when it was funny it was very funny yet when it was moving was very emotional (the posession scene was the first time i thought "yes Dan Radcliffe can actually act!" lol)

Yeh i think the films have goton better and nothing proved this more than when i sat down yesterday and had a HP marathon watching them all back to back lol

I just hope HBP wont ruin this trend, it was my fav book (apart from the epic that was deathly hallows) and i hope they make it serious about Voldemort's past rather than focusing too much on the lovey-dovey stuff :p:yawn:

I quite liked the added scenes it was a nice departure from always being a step ahead of the film.

Really enjoyed the film. Some really nice scenes in there, thought they dealt with the relationships very well without making it cringey or annoying. Thought Lavender Brown was played to perfection, hilariously obsessive, the whole cinema was in hysterics as she was huffing on the train window and drawing the heart as Harry and Ron looked on horrified!

The death was well played I thought, glad they didn't go with the frozen Harry under the cloak. Little disappointed the battle wasn't in there though. The bit in the courtyard while not as good as a proper funeral was effective and by the time it had finished the whole cinema was deathly silent apart from people sobbing.

Things I would liked to have seen:

1. The Defense Against The Dark Arts lesson where Harry tells Snape that he doesn't have to call Harry "Sir"
2. The funeral
3. More Ginny and Harry
4. The finale from the book where they are sitting under the tree knowing that this is the end and they will never go back to Hogwarts

EDIT: Also just to say I went to the IMAX to watch it, a lot was made about it being in 3D and beginning was very impressive everything up to the end of recruiting Slughorn was in 3D then that's it... I was expecting a couple more scenes or the ending in 3D but no the first 12mins.

well hollywood has to miss some things out

a short story turns into a normal film

a book has to miss loaRAB out

eg in Lord of The Rings, Tom Bombadil didn't get a mention!

Goblet of fire was on the whole a train wreck, they made that up with OOTP although they left a lot of excellent stuff out in favor of minor silly things that held nothing together.

HBP was just awful, Harry been allowed to wonder the London underground all summer yeh right.

The constant waste of time on the teenage drama show parts and huge gaps in the story.

Apparently Dumbledore takes school security lightly so much so the attackers are free to waltz their way out, did I mention Harry wasn't stunned but stayed quiet in a corner and let Dumbledore die.

The Burrow attack uggg.

They ruined the vanishing cupboard part mainly because as a reader we are thinking he has something but what and it is driving him insane because it requires fixing. In the film it's like ah yes a cupboard like early on now we know his plan.

DH will have to be amazing to really make up for the way the movie side of the franchise has turned out.

lol..it sounded right in my head...as always!!

ooh see I forgot about the St Mungos scenes...that was a shame they didn't include them in the films. they would have been heart wrenching scenes for Neville :)

I was just wondering whether Harry and co leave Grimmauld Place on Christmas day to got back to Hogwarts in the books.

Oh, I forgot you read all the HP books backwarRAB didn't you...:D

I loved getting it because I didn't realise it was THAT big!!

i was satisfied with the length of DH...but it could have been longer and longer...why did she stop writing???

Haha i no it was so random! But then when i reread she was perfect, minus the Irish Accent, but that was just an added bonus in the film! She was just so dreamy and soft vocally!

I can see the 7 potters all heading for the burrow but in wrong direction or something, or just following the real Harry to the Burrow and everyone else saying they are going somewhere else, and just seeing them pop into the burrow!
