Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince

I suppose it does make sense to have 2 films based on the length of the books but tbh - i think alot of people who have not read the books (they are missing out) will get bored and see alot of the storylines as drivel. As much i think OOTP is a good book, there was quite a bit of filler and to me it wasn't as good as say GoF or HBP or DH. There was a lot of stuff in OOTP that could be cut and they cut it. Although i agree with you the explanation scene was too short - we didn't really get to see Harry's anger and grief at Sirius being dead. I think the characterisation that is in the books goes away in the films and therefore you get different performances based on the new script. I personally don't like Gambon's DD either.
I think the first 4 chapters in HBP will either not be in the film at all or cut down dramatically. We certainly won't get the Other Minister even though i think it is a fab chapter. We are unlikely to get Spinner's end - some of the information in that will be re-worked elsewhere. Even though Chapter 3 is hilarious with Kreacher - i'm pretty sure that that will be reworked into another bit of the story and that DD will not got to the Dursleys. We won't get Harry and DD going to Slughorn's.

...and here's me thinking it was Ian McKellen that played Dumbeldorf all these years! :o

I've never actually noticed the eyebrow thing, to be honest - but yeah, that Ginny girl was a bit of a 'wet week'

But film and novels are two completely different forms of entertainment. If everything in the books was included, surely each film would last about 4-5 hours, instead of two and a half. If you prefer the books, then that's fine. But you can't moan at the people that like/prefer the movie franchise.

I generally don't like reading books as they take up far too much of my time, whereas others love to (or have the time). But since watching the last HP film, I'm thinking of reading the whole series of books - and that's a good thing, no?

48 days :D
i'm SO SO SO excited.
i went to see angels and demons today and a trailer came on, i got abit excited, i haven't seen the trailer on the big screen yet...*sigh*
harry is my ultimate guilty pleasure

It's a nonsense! They took the longest book, and turned it into the shortest film. It felt at times like I was watching one of those "Previously on..." clips, it was just scene, scene, scene, bish bash bosh.

I honestly cannot tell how somebody who hasn't read the books can gain an understanding and appreciation of the story, given the amount of back-story that goes unexplained in the films.

Presumably it was down to WB wanting the minimise the spend on OoTP, but surely the success of the movies leaRAB to huge profits, it isn't like they are taking a risk on a film that may bomb.

Snape and Voldemort are totally different characters, though.

Night night. Hope you have pleasant dreams rather than one about the cave. I'll be reading HBP too before the film is out.

We don't know that until DH, though.

Snape is presented in a stunted way in the films - they miss out so much about his character. I find that hard to take at times, especially when some people only watch the films and don't read the books. I am especially looking forward to how Alan Rickman portrays Snape from now on, now that he knows the full story. Jo Rowling did tell him a little bit about how his character develops early on, and Alan being Alan has added 'protective' elements in a subtle way in the films to date - especially in PoA.

Ah see anything i get from Uni is normally spent on presents for others... im good like that you see ;) :D Or food... it is pretty essential :p

Hm its good that it goes to charity i will admit... oooo i may get it, and when all copies have gone sell it for ten times the price :D

Only joking... i wouldn't do that to Harry Potter fans :D
