Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince

Yes, I'm surprised it isn't in the film but hey ho. I would have liked to have seen Merope. :) What a horrendously creepy family they are. I was actually shuddering whilst reading the chapter. Then I had to poke myself and say, it's not real. :p

I think the emphasis was wrong. It may as well have been called Harry Potter and the load of snogging. When Snape revealed himself to be the prince. I was thinking 'and???' the HBP has hardly been mentioned so the big reveal didn't really matter (and wouldn't Harry have got into a little trouble for half killing Malfoy earlier on?).

Hmm. I'm annoyed. Probably the most gorgeous looking movie I've ever seen, but I do not care about the romantic elements. The weakest of the six films in my humble opinion. 5/10

LOL Im sure she does! :D

Aww yea but there so little of everyone! I was half expecting clips of new people like Lavender and Sluggy but oh well Im amazed with what we got so Im not going to complain...too much :D:p

Ah i was close with the spelling :D ermm... i'm not sure, i think were going to the centre of it, where the main life is!? If there is any, i've never been Ireland before! :p

Ah really?! See you are trying to be me! You have clearly moved close to Donegal because i'm coming over! mwahaha :p:D

I thought the film was ok, but not brilliant.
Too many sections from the book ended up on the cutting room floor, and while I know this is necessary to keep the length of the film sensible, I feel that the things which were chosen to be missed out should have taken precedence to the things contained within it.
I was a bit disappointed that there seemed to be no real climax to the film, but it was at a pretty constant level.

where's the inheritance that sirius is supposed to leave harry? sirius left harry grimauld place which from what i remember plays a key part in the deathly hallows. the burrow plays a key part in the next film also.

In the book harry uses the levicorpus spell on ron which hangs him in the air by his ankle, i laughed just by reading that bit and was hoping it would be in the film as that would be hilarious but they left it out. I must say that the scenes with ron obsessed with romilda vane were funny.

The whole cinema jumped, in the cave scene where harry reaches into the lake to get water for dumbledore lol

I finally saw it this evening and I'm really surprised that I actually loved it. I love the books and I was sure that I would be spotting every little difference. I did notice them but they didn't seem to matter to me.

First the things I didn't like.
* Harry flirting with the waitress.
* Dumbledore asking Harry about the waitress and then about Hermione.
* The whole Harry/Ginny relationship. I liked it in the book and love them together but they just spoilt it in the film.

Now the good.
* Lavender Brown was just so funny. I really enjoyed all her scenes.
* Cormac McLaggen was great. I loved it when he was licking his fingers whilst looking at Hermione.
* Harry under the influence of Felix. That was just so good and I didn't mind that it effected him differently to the book as the way it was portrayed made up for it.
* Both Tom Riddles. They were really creepy.
* Luna and her hat and sleepwalking.
* The part after Dumbledore died and they all raised their wanRAB to get rid of the Dark Mark. It brought a tear to my eye.
* Poisoned Ron and him falling off the sofa.
* Hermione telling Harry that he is an idiot for thinking he is going to be able to do it by himself and them watching Fawkes fly off.

I didn't jump when the inferi came out the lake because I knew it was coming. My friend (who hasn't read the books) almost jumped out of her skin though which was quite funny.

I had one *gasp* moment though which I don't think anyone has mentioned (correct me if I'm wrong as I've only skimmed the thread). When Harry touched the ring and then did the thing with his neck that Voldy does. I thought that was really well done and it planted a big hint for the end of DH. Then when Dumbledore said he thought he had found another Horcrux I'm sure he wasn't talking about the locket at first ;)

I really enjoyed it (except for Harry/Ginny) and I think going in with low expectations helped.

i don't tend to notice whether it is there or not but sometimes i do wonder but like you say even if its not there i just assume its masked by his hair. in the necklace scene with Snape and mcgonagall whilst i couldn't see it - i just assumed it was masked by his hair.

some of the mistakes i agree - who really cares - all the cast/crew equipment - i'm also like who cares - you have to be pretty anal to see them.

Me too, especially as it looks as if Ginny is going to kiss Harry. Harry is meant to kiss her. Some people may say that there isn't much difference but in this case I think there is. Ginny was the shy little schoolgirl who had a crush on the boy-who-lived. Harry kissing her shows that he really does like her back and isn't just going along with it. Obviously I can't really comment until I see the film but it looks that way to me from the trailers.

I really like the chemistry Emma and Rupert have. I wasn't really aware of their feelings until the GoF book (aftermath of the Yule Ball) but I think they did a good job in the films. I liked it at the end of the first one when Hermione hugs Harry and then goes to hug Ron but pulls back and he looks so disappointed and holRAB out his hand instead. I also liked it in PoA when Harry is facing Buckbeak and Hermione grabs Ron's hand and then they jump apart when she realises what she's done.

Same!

There are still 87 days till the movie but i have a feeling time will fly!!!

Plus the game is going to be released on June 30th and i know that will keep me going for the 2 weeks till the movie. Definately getting it for my RAB!!

If you tell me to do that i SO will!:o

I'm at the cave scene in the books...Dumbleydore is just about to drink the potion but i can't read anymore. This but distresses me!! When he's begging Harry not to make him drink it, and then harry has to force him to do it....

Then DD says...'oh, i'm not worried, i'm with you harry' (or something like that...

breaks my weak heart every time!!!:cry::cry:

This is just my opinion...

but I pretty much hated it. The thing I really like about the book is the fact it is darker. People are getting murdered left, right and centre, and how much did the film really pick up on that?!

Another major gripe I have is the introduction of characters that have VERY little to do. Fenrir being one, Amycus and Avery (though not named, they have lines) being a couple of others. Tonks and Lupin at the Burrow...and that's it. That's all they have to do.

Thirdly, the film is called the Half-Blood Prince. Why wasn't this more focused upon in the film? Instead we have Ginny tying Harry's shoelaces. Just...no. Major cringe.
We've not seen many hints of attraction between both Ron and Hermione, and Harry and Ginny but for me it really felt rushed and that we were being bashed over the head by the makers of the film as if to say, 'LOOK! LOOK THEY LOVE EACH OTHER!' Plus it didn't help that Bonnie/Ginny spoke in monotone. Didn't really help me to believe her love for Harry.

Ooh just thought of a great point to illustrate the weirdly jarring nature of the film between comedy and darkness. The scene where Ron takes the love potion...He's been cured by Slughorn, and the audience in my cinema has been laughing a lot. Slughorn gives him the mead and Ron falls down - cinema breaks out in hysterical laughter. Slowly, people realise that he's been poisoned. Cinema shuts up.

There are SO many more things I could point out, but I shall end on a positive note...

Improved acting. The main trio I thought were good overall (and didn't notice the eyebrow problem) but stand-outs from the 'child/young adult' category would be Draco Malfoy (thank god they've given Tom something to do, he made me really feel for his character, but then again I am biased!), and both child and teenage Riddle. They creeped me out.
Michael Gambon's acting in the cave was great. Snape, Bellatrix and what we saw of Narcissa was great.

Loved Hermione and the birRAB scene - love that one in the book anyways.

Also thought the symbolism was great - the white canary bird thing died whilst the dark one survived, and that wonderful scene with each person raising their wand to dispel the Dark Mark in the sky (majorly teared up!)
