harry potter and the goblet of fire

I posted this in the other Harry Potter post but thinking of it's relavince i think it's important to have it here as well.

I was watching an interview on the C4's show Richard & Judy & they were interviewing Richard Griffiths on his career & he was talking about the new Potter movie saying he wont be in it & whats more

"The book in relation to the movie HAS been cut in half"

So with that it sounRAB like a lot of harry potter fans will not be happy.

I myself having not read any of the potter books would like to see the film stick with the books as close as possible.

So i will wait & see but im getting the feeling that it's the movie people up to their old tricks
 
Not necessarily Peej - a lot of TV progs, for example, have much older actors playing teenagers (using That 70s Show as an example - "Hyde" is in his late 20s iirc!) and I don't think it'll matter too much, unless (of course) they don't want to continue. Which would be a shame - they're not the greatest actors, granted, but I can't see the rest of the films without them, tbh.

This film...hmm...considering how much they cut out of PoA, I'm not optimistic. I've always thought the Goblet of Fire to be the best of the bunch so far (fwiw, slightly ahead of OotP ;)) and for the story to be told properly, it would need two films.

I will see it, though, of course, not going to pan the film beforehand!!
 
Ok. I have to say this.

I really don't like the Harry Potter movies.

Here are the reasons why:

the lines- This is not particularly the film's fault. If it doesn't use important lines from the book, it's not sticking to the story enough. But at the same time these lines are presented so badly they end up sounding annoying. E.g. Fred's 'I'm Fred after all' was a direct quote from the book, but it still annoyed the hell out of me.

I have to agree. So much of the books are cut out of the movies (understandably, given the length of some of them). A much more sensible option would have been to wait until all of the books had been published. At least then the risk of cutting something vital to the future storyline wouldn't be an issue. But no, the money machine has to keep a-rolling. :)
 
Krum looks exactly as I imagined him to look like. The underwater challenge looks really good as well.

I've really enjoyed the films - as with all adaptations of novels, there's always going to be differences, bits missing etc. but I thought Azkaban was very well done, especially the jumping back in time stuff.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they've made of You-Know-Who...
 
I dont consider it a huge issue that they've cut winky and 'SPEW' they're not crucial to the rest of the plot. However, Dobby and the Gillyweed are pretty dam important!! I cant remember the meeting with sirius, can someone jog my memory please?

Im a huge fan and have read most of the books at least three times now and am trying to get my boyfriend to do the same. I got him to watch the philosiphers stone the other night and he loved it. But I had to keep explaining things that are not explained properly in the film. He's not much of a reader but i Suggested putting the Stephen Fry audio versions on his ipod, he's a RAF Pilot so has plenty of time to listen to them while he's somewhere over the atlantic :)
 
JK Rowling, still owning a lot of the rights, will make sure that this doesn't happen.

However, surely the films are catching up on her. If the 5 month rumour about Order of the Phoenix is true, then they will be filming the new book next year....

They've just about got the timing right with the young actors playing the parts... But if she doesn't get the last book out fast then the last film will have to have completely different actors.
 
how can the cut out winky and then explain the dark mark at the world cup, be interesting to see that

On another note for Order of the Phoenix I heard that Kathy Bates has been cast as Dolores Umbridge which is perfect, I wondered who they'd get for that role
