Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: will be two films

How come LOTR: The return of the king ran for three hours 20 minutes and Harry potter and the deathly hallows is going to be split into two films.

The previous two LOTR films are approx three hours each too.

I agree about a lot of the stuff missing out of the books ruins a film... When POA was released, me and OH were watching it and I was saying, there's about twenty pages missing here. Four pages here, etc.

He's not read the books.

If it really was for cynical business reasons, why didn't they do the same with Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix then?

Because the people who are peddling this theory are the ones moaning about "greedy film companies." If the feeling is that strong, the people who feel this way should stand by their morals and refuse to contribute to this "greed."

The book was shockingly dull, at least they won't miss out the bits where Harry keeps going camping. Over and over. Worst book of the series by a long way.

Not keen on the idea, but I'll reserve judgement till I've seen them, you never know it might work and they might be masterpieces!

It may just look wrong as one movie too. Most of the book is Harry on the trail with Hermione (and less of the time Ron) The endgame is relatively short. The two don't sit together in one movie and/or the search loses key pieces if you try . the point about the search is how long nd hard it is too which is going to be difficult to portray convincingly if it gets a quick run through.

because it would have looked even more blatantly obvious. I'm sorry but you really are naive if you believe all this 'It's for the fans, not the money' crap.

I agree. No offense to anyone, but people just can't get precious about books when they are adapted into movies. That's the clue word 'adapted'. Its only logical that you can't fit every detail of a book into a movie. So does that mean they should not be made at all to satisfy a few precious fans? Not at all, that would be unfair to the wider audience. The movies have probably helped to introduce a lot of younger children to the books as they grow up, so they can get the fuller original story.

Many of my favourite books have been made into films, but I can accept that there will be differences. I would only object if the story was completely unrecognizable for no discernable reason. But if it is down the the constraints of film making, editing etc then I am savvy enough to realise that.

But now it seems the film makers are damned if they do and damned if they don't by some fans. If they edit too much out to fit into one film they are lambs to the slaughter, but also if they decide to split it into two films so they can retain more of the source material they are being out of order.

Yes, of course making money is a primary objective in film making. But think about it, these movies have done nothing to hurt the bank balance of J. K Rowling herself, have they? Would you deny her rewarRAB for her hard work and imagination? And they bring a lot of pleasure to lots of people.

Come on guys be objective ;)

it worked ok with the back to the future triology?:confused: they even wrote to be concluded.:):):)

will they film as one film then chomp it down other wise everyone will lokk different from the first half to the second,

apart from deathly hallows which book states what patronas snape has? i was gutted i didnt see this coming in the final book:o:o:o

after all the hpye deathly hallows was a bit disappointing. I am just wondering what she changed cos someone worked it it out,,, how ignorant and may have been better to leave it be.

i can see it now the next boook harry potter and the bits she changed cos someone peed her off for being brainy:D:D:D:D:D

Sad in one way, not so in another, it is good that it will have sufficient detail, but it seems such a gap between the two films, i would rather one long film, though that won't happen now! I suppose they'll go up ot the bit where
Ron walks out
for the first part, seems a good part to stop on, or maybe at
Bathilda Bagshots house
??? BTW, what do you think it will mean DVD wise?

beats me how they gonna do a stage version, it has been talked about and that all the books in one.:eek::eek:

Probably two DVRAB - the first one being released just before the second hits cinemas - and then a 'collector's edition' with the two together.

I'm a bit confused as to how the first part of Deathly Hallows is going to be filmed -
Fleur isn't in the HBP film so there's no romance with Bill so surely they can't get married?

An awful idea that showcases a desperate need to make money. The book is 600 pages of waffle and 100 pages of content. While Rowling's prose is well-written enough to justify chapter after chapter of tent-situated content, this is not something that can help the film.

Rowling is an undisciplined writer. The screenwriter is even worse.
