Harry Potter 6 is a LETDOWN!!!

Another complaint (:p)

- Tonks looked absolutely awful in this film. In the books (and previous film) she always seemed to be attractive, quirky and was one of the main OOTP members......yet in this film she was shown for about 30 seconRAB and looked like a man.

Dissapointed.

Underage rape? Holocaust shadowing? Same-sex relationships?? I haven't read the book in age but can't remember any of that.

(unless you mean the muggles who attacked Dumbledore's sister as the rape victim, but i'd always assumed they just attacked her and frightened her for life. Not raped her.)

I meant in the respect of the reviews on average being stronger than Philosopher's Stone, Chamber and OOTP (per Rotten Tomatoes) Metacritically, it's only been beaten by Azkaban and GOF.

It's been regarded by several notable critics (Kermode springs to mind, but that may be the post above mine that made me think of him) as the second best of the films, and I personally concur with that.

Now, that's not to say that it is without flaw, and few reviewers have suggested that's the case - but critically it's definitely one of the better received films of the series.

I'm listening to it now. For me it wasn't much of a letdown but it felt like it didn't quite hang together and the finale was disappointing. Didn't help that i completed the film about a week before and was disappointed that a) i completed it and b) the little clips it showed that filled in dialog and plot details.

sorry you misunderstood i meant Harry is the son of Snape's nemesis i.e. James potter not that Snape is related to Voldy. Snape's father was a muggle and Snape's mother was Eileen Prince, a witch who was good at potions and was member of the gobstones club.

In the books, it helps to explain why Snape is always protecting Harry and is truly on Harry's side even tho Harry is the son of Snape's nemesis.

1,2,3,4 and 5 are nothing like the books either.

The books are undoubtedly better but I have liked all the films so far (not seen 6 yet). I always try to view them as separate from the books as if you get hung up on what is different from the books you'll hate it.

I deliberately hadn't read or even thought about the book in the past several months so that I could watch the film with an open mind and see how it stanRAB on its own, and I thought it was very good! The acting by the not-so-young cast has improved immensly - when Hermione was upset over Ron and his girlfriend (I've forgotten the name!), I actually believed she was upset, I felt her sorrow come across. Brilliant.

Obviously, out of curiosity I scanned through the book afterwarRAB to see if there was any huge plot errors / adjustments. They did leave quite a lot out, especially the stuff about Snape et al, but my brother thinks they were setting it up to be addressed in the last two films. That makes sense, I think.

I loved the comedy moments, and kudos go to Michael Gambon and Jim Broadbent. When either of them were on the screen I couldn't help but smile (except at the points where I wasn't meant to, obviously :o).

One thing I will say the film did brilliantly is there were some terrific visuals. The sets were great, particularly Fred and George's shop which I thought was amazing - pity we didn't get to see more of it.

I never watched or read anything to do with Harry Potter, until this film. Man was it boring. It was painfully boring. Harry's loyal servants (or his frienRAB) -- what exactly was the point of them?

zzzzzzz

I enjoyed the film. You can't expect films to match the books exactly, that would be insane, and boring. It wasn't perfect, but certainly a good watch :)

Unfortunatly Yates has once again blown the key death scene at the end. David Yates really should not be directing these movies. The quality has been solidly down hill since 3 and 4.

To be fair - she wasn't supposed to be attractive in this film but she was to take on a more lupiny colour in her hair and be depressed coz Lupin doesn't want her to be with him coz he is supposedly too dangerous.

Although seeing as they ignored that particularly plotline and just have them get together off screen then its whatever.

I think that it was a mistake, for readers of the book would have been expecting it and people who have not might come away from the film thinking what a rubbish ending, one of the parents at my screening first worRAB was

the first five books are forgiveable in what thye left out not in this case. so much is key. There are lots of thoughts on this on the other thread.

It was a good film it could have been a great film:(

so a bit let down but did enjoy it. The blwoing up burrow was wasted time. As was harry calling himself a to s s er in the cafe and yet they left out the dursleys agian:mad: and that was vital cos it explains why harry cant be touched there/ and voldemort is a half blood again vital. and it almost like sirius has not died as there was continuation in the reading of his will. Thye could have left out the bridge scene and added loyal meat tot he story:(

Haven't read all this thread through yet but i wanted to give my 2 cents.

I treat the books and films separately but HP6 was ok - not great, not dire.

The bad parts for me were the ropey acting - Harry & Hermione have more chemistry than Ginny & Harry, Hermione & Ron.
They turned the movie into a romcom and a bad one at that. The added scene to add tension and threat at the weasleys added nothing.
The major bad point tho is that after 6 movies, I am still waiting to care about these characters. I love the characters in the books but in the movies they are tools to serve the plot and while i understand they don't have the time to develop so many characters it would be good to even a care slightly about the characters.

The ok points are the structure - it skipped around a bit but that is minor.

The good point is that no major plot points were missed. Everything that the audience needed to know was in.

ok enough with the good and bad points. I may have cheated a little bit by having played the game on the wii beforehand, i was disappointed at the scenes that were pre-programmed in that reflected the movie. I hoped the game had deviated from the movie but it hadn't.

i have heard it now and whilst i agree the meanings are there, i just don't feel for an ending it was visually dramatic neither was the Snape/Harry scene out side Hagrid's.
