Harry potter 5?

I being a very big Harry Potter fan am not to pleased with all the scenes and changes Warner Bros. are making with the film. I understand on some account they need to shorten the film and cut certain things out but it's getting beyond a joke. I just hope the finished production is amazing to cover up all the things they've cut out like ( don't read if you've not read the book)

No Dobby when he informs Harry Potter that Umbridge is on her way. Also they have cut out Quidditch how will they account for Harry beating up Malfoy and Ron being nervous due to the chorus of "Weasley is out King".

Please tell your views on this.
 
It annoys me when they do that. Little things in teh GOF wound me up too. Like not having Dobby in there bringing Harry about the gillyweed! annoying.
 
While i'd like to have certain bits from the books (like spew) i am aware that film is a different medium to books. If they kept everything in, then the films would be like 9 hours long each or more.
 
I think that the films should be made with nothing left out.
They can be edited before release and then when they come out on dvd an unedited version can be released!
Shorter versions for the kiRAB that cant sit still in the cinema and longer versions for the adults to enjoy at home without kiRAB chucking popcorm about!!!
 
I don't like the films. It is not the fact they cut stuff out it is that they butcher the feel and tone of the book. They could make an hour film and still make fans happy. If the films were out before the books they would not be famous.
 
I've wondered if when the films are complete if they will try a big TV series, covering most of the books and being funded by the most of worlRAB big TV broadcasters.
 
Dobby has already been greatly reduced. Previous movies ignored the House-Elf liberation stuff, and he really is secondary to the main plot.

Besides, book 5 is almost certainly the worst of the 6 books so far. Horribly bloated and frankly boring as all hell. I remember thinking when reading book 5 that a good half and maybe two-thirRAB could be lopped off without damaging the main plotlines.

Obviously Rowling agreed, because she reined herself in for book 6, which concentrates more on plot and is, to my mind anyway, the best of the lot.
 
Just LOOK at the size of the book! They would need to make it 3 and a half hours and more to fit everything in, which they will NOT be doing. I thought they did a great job of cramming the relevant parts into the Goblet of Fire movie while still having time to expand on the action scenes etc. although it was a LITTLE rushed and I enjoyed Prisoner of Azkaban more due to the way they handled the Dementors and the scenes with Professor Lupin, which are maybe better than the book (about the only time the movies have been better than the books).

Some people foolishly think it would be a good idea to put EVERYTHING from the books onscreen. If they did that the films would be too long and bloated and would bore the general audience. Personally I don't believe even the most hardcore Harry Potter fan would be able to sit through a 5 hour movie.
 
I totally disagree. The book was brilliant. The book used emptiness to tell the story. It is my favourite book and it is one of the best writen novels I have read.
 
Well, you obviously liked it a lot. That's great. But even though it's your favourite book, you must admit that it is just a tad long. Obviously they're going to have to cut a lot of it out to make it all fit into a 2 hour movie.

As a huge fan of book five, where would YOU make the cuts?
 
I think they should have made the films true to the books and kept more in than they did, but I agree that they would end up at about five hours long if they did this.

Before they made GOF I read somewhere that it had been suggested that they split it into two halves and have it as two seperate movies. This would have made sense to me. They could have released the second part a few months after the first, and when it came to the DVD release they could have had a bumper special edition with it all on.
