Harry Potter 5 Total Film Preview

I have never seen what all the fuss is about with the Harry Potter films as I have watched all the films but I dont see them as anything special. Maybe you have to have read the books to appricate them!

I've read the books and seen the films, and enjoyed both equally, but in different ways.

I don't think they're necessarily incredible viewing, but they're definitely worth watching!

Actually, when I said I that liked the second one I was referring to the second mock-up magazine cover that the original poster had done!! As for the movies themselves, THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN is by far my favourite. :)

Got to say that No. 4 was a total waste of time - talk about cut out the majority of the story! - My Aunt who has only seen the films - she's determined not read the books until the entire series of books is out (each to their own) - even said that she felt that whilst the film was good it was obvious to her that there was something missing.

They're good. I like the Voldemort one.

I agree with Ckingshott1 here. The amount of stuff they cut out from The Goblet of Fire was ridiculous - I know they had to cram a 700+ book into a two hour film but surely they could have just added on an extra half an hour to the film. They didn't even explain how Barty Crouch Jr escaped from Azkaban - an itegral part of the plot!

I, for one, hope the Order of the Phoenix is longer than 2 hours so that they don't cut as much out.

I dont know, I've read the books and was dissappointed with the fourth film, for me the best film is the prisoner of azkaban but the best book is the goblet of fire. I am hoping they don't cut a lot out of the next film, although the book is not that great, but the thicker the book, the more they cut out I suppose

Missing out the whole of the explanation for Priori Incantum really riled me- a big revelation (Harry and Voldy's wanRAB both have Fawkes' feathers inside) in the books was turned into just "Priori Incantum." from Dumbledore and a mysterious look.

EDIT- And so little of Sirius as well- especially considering how important he is to the next film

My favourite book of the series is Goblet of Fire, but my favourite film so far has been Prisoner of Azkaban. They really did cut out a lot of stuff. They really glossed over poor old Neville. One brief bit in class and then a throwaway line about Barty torturing an auror named Frank Longbottom.

But whatever about that, how could they not explain Priori Incatum (sp?) and the bit in the third film where they completely neglected to talk about the marauders.

Part of that is revelaed in the Philosophers Stone, Mr Olivander tells harry that the phoenix that gave the feather in his wand also gave one other, just one other and that it is in Voldemorts wand, he just doesnt reveal its from Fawkes.

Also I agree the amount of material missed from ther fourth film was ridiculous, even changing scenes to save time and money - in the book Dobby gave Harry the gillyweed for the 2nd task, not neville.

In my opinion the 1st and 2nd films are the best as they were totally faithful to the books, the 3rd film had a few minor stupid changes that to me were pointless e.g. as harry and hermione watch lupin enter the hole below the whomping willow, he freezes the branches of the tree with his wand instead of prodding the knot on the trunk with the stick as in the book.
