Harry and Paul on BBC2 9:30pm Tue

The northerner sketches, the barking dog with the chavs and the 'queer' sketches are very old hat.

The 'I saw you coming' shop scene is not funny after three times, the 1950s drunk driver is boring after the first time.

Love his Harry Hill, Woss and Dragon's Den's impressions though:D

It's disgusting that northerners are portrayed on the BBC in that way. I'm tempted to write to OFCOM to demand they take action against the BBC perpetuating such incorrect stereotypes. At least I might write to them after I come back from the pub later.

The Beatles has improved each week, Italian?PM sketch clever
and Geordie still quite funny. But still find the shut it chavs absolute dross
So still a mixed bag that's better than some of the comedy shows about just now

Very very hit and miss.

I liked the chavs in the library and Parkeing Pataweyo, and this Beatles sketch that's on now.

However My Psycho Bean and the thing with the two surgeons were just a bit...shit. That's the trouble with the first episode of a sketch show, many of them are running gags.

I quite liked the previous series, but this is just dire.

It's a shame because I really like Harry and Paul. This Beatles stuff is complete crap.

Edit: Holy Crap, have they actually blacked up:eek:

i think harry and paul are the very epitome of hit and miss really. the last series had some absolutely classic sketches but also had some real stinkers.

i have to watch this on iplayer as it clashes with a few things on tuesday, so i'll give it a go tomorrow ..

This series (minus the canned laughter, yay!) is FAR more deeply cutting.

It isn't a giggle-a-thon.... and I don't think it's meant to be. It's more deeply rooted in direct satirical attacks on the archetypes they hate the most.

Some great cruel impressions too.

It IS hit and miss, but when it hits, it's fantastic.

I've given up with Harry & Paul as they simply aren't funny anymore. Parking Patewayo is the only thing I've laughed at so far and to be honest the rest of it has been painful to watch. The only reason I stuck with it this long was out of loyalty in the hope he'd recreate the brilliance of his series in the late 80's early 90's. None of his new characters are remotely interesting or have catchphrases that anyone uses and as for the "is he a quair gag" it just isn't funny. I think he's even given up being subtle.

well i dont think so

its like just going

that phoenix lazarus, or that gemma-the-husky

thats a queer name, writes in a queer way, must be a queer.

lets write it down probably queer

-----------
its hardly insightful, cutiing edge satire.

Graham Chapman would have stopped this. Started out Ok, but its going nowhere ....

I didn't watch last week, but I enjoyed it tonight. The reason the fast show was so good wasn't the jokes (which were usually repetitive and fairly limp) it was the way the characters were played and the enjoyment you got from watching them. This was very similar in my opinion. Paul Whitehouse is still a great actor.

I am disappointed with this series (and the previous one). I don't find it funny at all.

Their parodies are (as always) very accurate (like the Beatles sketch in the style of "A Hard Day's Night"). But that's not enough. The script writing is just too low on humour.

I prefer something like this:

Also, in common with a lot of sketch shows, some of the sketches are too long.
