Hi Randy,
If you really want to go forward you can purchase the Harley Brand Extended Floorboard Pans (part # 50409-04) for just under $80. You would mount your pads on these pans and move your boards forward by 2.00
 
Granted that the passenger extensions are not for everyone. They do take a little getting used to.
I have them on my 08 FLHT, my wife loves them so much that I made an extra effort to get used to them. I'm only aware of them when I backing up, but still not an issue.

If you bought those passenger extensions from HarleyGoodies I would be more than happy to give you a full refund and pay the return shipping.

This is a great product from a great company. Tom shipped these out the next day after I emailed and I had the kit within a few days (Thanks for using USPS Priority Mail!). Installation is easy and requires only basic tools. If only I had been able to get the left/front mounting bolt loose, it would have taken less than 1/2 hour. WD-40 to the rescue. It's not real flashy and you probably won't even notice they are there until you saddle up and ride!
