I'm doing a report in school on H-D, and I would like to know YOUR opinions on Harley-Davidson. What do you like most about them? What do you like least about them? Anything would be of great help to me, thank you!

I ride a 2002 Dyna SuperGlide Sport. I love it! Don't listen to the Harley bashers in Y!A. I admit, there was a time when they were not making very good bikes, but that is not the case today. Recent models are reliable and do not leak oil. No other bike sounds, feels or rides like one. They are true originals.

While many foreign made sport bikes can out run and out handle Harleys, they are very much the kings of cruisers and tourers. They can be infinitely customized. Virtually no two Harley's are the same.

If you walked out into a parking lot of 100 Harley's, you'll know right away which one is yours. If you walked into a parking lot of 100 sport bikes, you'd be there for a while trying to find yours.

There are several books you may find in your local library to read up on the rich history of Harley-Davidson and their impact on motorcycling in general. Knuckleheads, panheads, flatheads, evos, etc. Harleys in the military, fire and police bikes. Its endless.

Sounds like a great project. Good Luck and I hope you get an A!

Since you're doing a school report, simply stating they are a good bike or a piece of junk isn't going to rate a decent grade. Maybe you ought to focus on other things such as the cult like following they have, their marketing success they've had with non-motorcycle endeavors like licensing their name for Ford to use on their pickups, non-bikers wearing HD clothing and licensing their logo for everything from HD sunscreens in the back of pickups to cigarette lighters to black leather diaper covers for your baby's bottom. You could also talk about their successfull comeback after they purchased themselves back from AMF and the styling trends Harley and Willie G has set for the rest of the bike world. You could also cover the Harley mentality if you want to call it that. People embrace the lifestyle attributed to Harley ownership and brotherhood even though people with any brand could feel the same way. Then throw in the gang sector and their Harley or else thinking. There's plenty of stuff you can cover that will be informative and interesting without hacking people off with a simple "they're junk" or "the best bike in the world."
