battery is dead. the battery is new, so could the bad ignition be the cause?
i also found lose cables and tightnd them
the ignition where the key went

I think that these are two isolated incidents. The ignition shouldnt be draining anything. Unless the key is stuck on the power. Ok... joking.

Check for a loose battery cable. Or maybe the battery is worn out. They do have a life "range" of about 5 years. If the ignition is worn out other parts may be ready to be replaced. Not HD bashing. This happens to most bikes. Ever hear about the mid-90's Honda VFR fiasco! Electrical glitches galore!

yea this is just an idea but maybe the ignition is sapping the power. like constantly. did the ignition work when the battery was okay? if so maybe it is the wrong voltage/size ignition and it used up the battery.

Jump it off, get your handy dandy little voltmeter and put it on the battery, if it reads 13.5 to 14 volts just charge the battery or get a new one if that doesn't work, if you have 12 to 12.5 volts running it's a voltage regulator or stator problem, If you want to ck the stator e-mail me, it's a little more complicated
