Hannibal Lector Franchise Question

I don't think it's a teen/slasher movie at all. It is a bit different to the other films because it tries to chart Lector's development as a psychopathic genius and cook. I found it slower and more thoughtful than Silence of the Lambs, and less visually cinematic than Hannibal. It's probably less good than the others, but I wouldn't dismiss it out of genre.

I like Manhunter - found it to be a very good thriller, but it certainly has it's flaws. Also,I don't think Michael Mann's stylish aproach suited the subject matter.
But Brian Cox's characterization of Lektor was much more realistic and fitting than Hopkin's version.

The books ending is pathetic. Laughable even. If the whole disembowelling in Florence/returning to America/killing Mason with an Eel wasn't bad enough that ending was just rubbish. It's making me laugh thinking about it :D I waited years for that book and to say I was disappointed doesn't cover it!

As for Manhunter - it's far superior to any of the Hopkins films. The chap playing Dollarhyde just oozes menace and awkwardness. And Cox nails the part of Lector, making him quietly disturbing without turning him into some kind of invincible, uber-intelligent Freddy Kruger
