handwriting quirks to make it less generic?

I used to have the ugliest handwriting on the planet. Teachers, friends, parents, the guy who drives the local dump truck (ermm...don't ask), all have commented on how ugly my handwriting is and I wanted to improve it.

I did, but now it's neat AND ugly, like one of those 99 cent guides you use to teach little kids cursive.

What are things you add your own handwriting and signatures to make them look better or more unique. Thanks to all!

Practice holding your hand and arm in different positions. Put more or less movement in your wrist, hand, and arms. Hold your pen between different fingers. Tilt your head and paper a different way.
