Hands-On with the N75.....

Lmao....Cingular telling Nokia what to do? What are they holding over their head....
"well....we know we havent carried many of your devices in the past and most of our customers dont know anything about S60 but we might carry more in the future if you play your cards right."
If I were Nokia and Cingular was making demands I would probably be inclined to combine an F with a U.

@ Rcadden: Thanks for the review.

@ AteFifty: Believe it or not, Nokia does have to play nice with the network operator. So how many S60 phones do you see on Verizon and Sprint? Hello LG and Pantech city.

Rcadden, you may just have talked me into the N75. I wonder if you know if java apps go into the suspend mode or close all together when you close the flip..

That's a damn fine question!

Also, Rcadden...can you compare the 3g speeds you experienced with the N75 to say...a blackjack or whichever 3gs you've used with Cingular. I would imagine comparing the stock nokia browser would be difficult, but did you test the Cingular video and other branded media options? I would love to get this for my wife as shes sick of her treo and misses a flip. S60/flip/3gspeeds seems like a nice upgrade if you ask me....but of course I wouldnt have bought anything but S60.

aside from when I flirted with some PPC's.......
of course I always had a symbian in the family though

I will do what I can to find out the java question, but this might be a bit harder. i seriously only used the browser long enough to post on hofo. It was quick, but i didn't try orb or anything to really test things out.

That's cool...I'm getting nokias first NA 3g phone for my wife at the least so I'm pretty much sold already. I'm just excited to see this puppy in action. From my experiences with that 3g LG (I think it's LG w/ the music buttons on the exterior of the flip) I was pretty impressed w/ the Cingular Video speeds. The phone was utter crp but it's going to be nice to see what tethering possibilities this phone brings....of course now I'll have to figure out how to do that for free under the standard unlimited 3g data plan.....but that's what hofo is here for!

Great article regarding 3g w/ you and Olly on your blog. Kind of depressing however but very good nonetheless. Fortunately for now a reasonably functional S60 will be supporting it but I'm afraid of getting hooked. From the monthly data you use I can see why your primary will always have 3g and I'm afraid to fall into that same situation. For now the N95 is going to be a joy to use and wont feel inadequate w/ the wifi capabilities but if the GPS mapping that requires a data connection is sluggish and slow through EDGE I think I'm going to be sick.
