Hands on with the iphone, maybe it is overhyped a wee bit...

anyone with a htc wizard type phone would of told any iphone sack rider that its very difficult to dial numbers on screen.. (luckily the wizard has a slide out keyboard) bad move from apple to not have any buttons..

The iPhone is so

Good UI, and would do most things i'd want, but…

no real keyboard with tactile feedback? no 3g? No offline application development? Blah.

THey'll sell a hojillion, and I won't begrudge them, but it's just not the right device for most geek sorts.

Which isn't really saying much. It was an ambitious move that I just don't see getting a lot of good reviews. Make a version with a keyboard and 3g, then I might consider one (after a few months of letting other people beta test it. I'm not silly enough to get a /A)

1. 3g is in v2, this was more of a business politico challenge more so than a technical one. i have yet met someone here that can fully explain it to me save for the gossip.
2. dev kit is coming out in 6 months after release. i believe this is a good move by not releasing a full sdk.
3. the camera is actually pretty good, not breakthrough tech but they never really focused on it regardless. from what i've seen it's not going to be improved even in v2
