Handicapped Characters in Animation

What are some handicapped characters in Animation, that aren't a burden to others? The only one I can think of is Toph Bei Fong, she uses her Earthbending talents to "See" so to speak, as she is blind. She uses her Earthbending to see vibrations and see where she's going.

Pelswick from 'Pelswick'. I like how the wheelchair wasn't an inconvenience for him and everyone treated him as a normal guy (which he was). Also, his angel was hilarious.

Joe Swanson from Family Guy. You know the cop in the wheelchair. He's actually pretty good on the job despite his disability, and they had a few episodes centered around him, like the one where he entered the special Olympics due to how he let a perp get away.

Dare devil, Blind, but had super sensory powers or something like that

Professor X, wheel chair bound, and only got problematic when he fell out of the chair in the middle of a fight

Joe swanson, only becomes a burdan when there's a joke to be made

Jimmy from south park, i don't think he ever burdened anyone... not sure the same could be said for timmy

Waynehead... i only vaguely remember him, so i can't be sure

I don't remember his name but I remember that Carlos from the Magic School Bus had a younger brother (or cousin?) in a wheelchair.
I only vaguely remember him too but I don't think he was a burdan. He only was missing one foot and walked perfectly fine with a prosthetic one after all.

:^: Waynhead (a.k.a. Damey Wayne) wasn't actually missing a foot; he was club-footed. The series was sort-of autobiographical: creator Damon Wayans had a club foot as a child and like his character had to wear a special brace for a time.

Being club-footed isn't usually a permanent condition, and it usually only requires surgery in extreme cases.

Edward Elric from the anime Fullmetal Alchemist as a metal arm and leg and can hold his own in a fight. Of course his handicap is actually due to his own actions and his goal is to reverse it.

I wonder if Sesshomaru, the half-brother of Inuyasha, might be included on the list? He lost his arm after a fight against Inuyasha. Count to think of it, I could add Shanks in One Piece who lost his arms after he saved a very young Luffy.

Oracle (a grown-up Barbara Gordon) showed up in The Batman for an episode.

The Chief, the Doom Patrol leader and the character Professor Xavier was actually based from, showed up in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. He even got a cool, but sad, heroic moment along the rest of the team.

Jeremiah Surd from The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, who was confined to a wheelchair after being exposed to a powerful nerve gas he himself created.

I'm surprirsed there's no mention of Mr. Magoo- he was considered either extremely nearsighted or legally blind.

Jimmy and Timmy from South Park, both respectively physically disabled, although in Timmy's case, mentally challenged as well.

Well that's in part because the original poster was asking about handicapped characters that were not burden on others... and while Mr.Magoo did get around on his own, he did often cause trouble for those around him. So he was kind of a burden, though in a rather different way. Atleast that's the reason i didn't bring him up

I remember Wheels from the Burger King Kid's Club. He seemed to be in the action (whatever action that may have been; I don't know what they do besides sell food).
