Handheld PDA or Smartphone/Pocket PC?

Depends on what you want to do. No one device will fit every circumstance or user.

Smartphones are somewhat limited in features - a stripped down PPC of sorts. You can view Word and Excel files but not edit, whereas you have that capability with a PPC and most Windows based PDAs.

I am not a Palm fan. Went through 3 Treo 600s and a 650 before surrendering. I use a Blackberry now. Also have a Blackjack. The BB is much better for me.

Palm is a much older operating system. On the PDAs such as the Tx, it is pretty good. As a phone, there are better O/S' out there - Blackberry, WM5 and Symbian. Just a matter of what you need and what you want.

Many people want to carry one device which can handle contacts, calendar, email and phone.
