Hancock

just seen it - really not what I was expecting.

if it had been kept "dark" it would have been better because it didn't work as a comedy. original idea, and watchable, but just didn't do it for me.

I enjoyed it! :) Some very funny scenes which made me laugh, but the dark last act seems out of tone with the rest of the film. Still, its good to see a superhero film thats a bit different! :D
7/10 from me :)

According to quote on Wikipedia... the movie is meant to be a lot darker than it is advertised.... seems like its going to be a really interesting movie!

yeah, that was very funny. Did anyone notice that the kid from Halloween played Michel ?

Yeah, the movie seemed to have problems coming to a satisfactory conclusion.........:)

Two more superhero films out this week, please enough, this just shows how infantile American audiences are these days.

That scene made me kaugh so hard! :D
I think though, that the darker, violent last part of the film jarred a bit, especially considering the light, almost throwaway style that had gone before it. The last part could also show that how Smith is lonely and unhappy,
because if he ever meets a woman (his opposite) he will lose his powers

i think this is where it didn't really work for me. it should have been one or the other - a light comedy about a dysfunctional superhero who gets his life back on track, or a darker, more violent drama about the same thing.

What? You mean these movies which are being released worldwide somehow indicate that American audiences are 'infantile'? If they were only being released in America you might have a point, but erm.. these kind of movies tend to do pretty well over here as well. Iron Man for one being a recent example.

It felt like three films in one - comic anti-hero act, hero's salvation act and discovery of past act. Each act had good points, but together it didn't quite work. I think they missed a trick not making this into two films, the first a lighter comedy about a mis-fit super hero who finRAB a way to come to terms with his powers and his isolation but with a dark ending where he finRAB out
he's not alone.
Then the second film where he
combats his 'nemesis' only to discover her true identy and the connection between them, and ultimatley has to choose between her and the rest of the world.

Those are two films I'd really have enjoyed. That said, the film seems to have been a financial success so a sequel and copycat films are likely in the coming years.

Looking forward to Tropic Thunder and Hancock this summer, can't wait :D:D:D I absolutely love Will Smith, he's always fun to watch!

I took it to be a reference to whatever backstory explains his powers. For example he could be an alien like Superman.

i went to see this film last week, and was majorly disappointed, i found near the start, it tried too hard to be funny and was probably one of the worst will smith films i've seen. I thought I am legend was pretty poor, but this took the biscuit. Like people have said it can't decide whether its a serious action film or a light hearted comedy. Overall, i found it predictable and I couldn't believe it when people were leaving the cinema saying how good they thought it was
