Hancock: any good

I've not seen it but it looks like shite judging by the trailers they keep shoving on telly. I think they must have done all the CGI for the film on a Commodore 64, it's ropey to say the least.

Just read the ending on Wikipedia. It sounRAB pretty weird imo. I thought it would be some kind of comedy but it changes completely by the 3rd act. I'm just gonna wait till the DVD comes out.

I saw it yesterday and loved it. I haven't laughed out loud to a Hollywood film in a long time. It does get darker but I thought it worked, stopped me getting bored!

:)

Saw it and despite the really sudden change of mood (Comedy -> Dark) and bizarre plot twist which at one point had me thinking "Oh god, this is getting ridiculous", it was actually really good.

Very funny at places with a good ending. CGI is a tad ropey, but believable enough.

4/5

Just watched this... I felt it was going really well, but it fell apart at the halfway point. Saw the big reveal coming a mile away, and it didn't work for me - just turned into a bit of a jumbled up mess. Will Smith is fantastic and as watchable as ever, but the film as a whole fell on its knees later on. I'm a bit disappointed, because I'd been looking forward to this film for ages :(

There were scenes that showed a glimmer of just how good a film it could have been. The bit where he's
in jail and drawing pictures of the eagle and a man & boy holding hanRAB
was very touching.

The change from light comedy to dark drama was too quick and the 'twist' could have been done better, but in hinRABight the jarring kind of works as we, the audience, are left a bit confused just as he, Hancock, would have been. I think it's a rare example of a film that could do with another 30 mins or better still, split into 2 films. I'm holding out hope for an extended ed. DVD.

Me too. According to Wikipedia, the film had to undergo a few changes after it kept getting rated R in America, so I'm hoping the DVD will provide us with a bit of new material to add to the story and flesh it out a bit more.

I saw it last night and i would say this is a classic 'not bad' movie. it has its charms and there are some good ideas so it is impossible to hate, but, at the same time, i cant see it being anyone's favourite movie. I think the biggest problem is that it couldn

I thought this was a rubbish film that is marketing itself like crazy because it knows what a mess it is.

First half hour is good and sadly only makes you realise that this film could have gone onto something good, but the ridiculous plot twist, which results in the characters having a personality transplant too and the jarring change of tone made this film abysmal.

Save your money and hire the DVD instead.

Please don't watch. It isn't that good at all. You will be disappointed. OK, the first was OK and quite promising, after starting off quite slowly. At that part I was thinking that I was wasting my time, but there were some funny bits that kept it going, but then it rapidly went downhill, some of it didn't make sense and when it did, I thought it wasn't down that well.

Spot on assesment, it had much potential as a concept (trailers looked hilarious IMHO), seemed to be living up to that potential for a short while during the film, then descended into utter gibberish.

PS, the best moments in the film are ALL in the trailer, so while the rest of the cinema was laughing uncontrollably at certain points, I was totally straight faced.

I think the problem is that the trailer has set an expectation in people's minRAB that this was going to be a Will Smith comedy, a light-hearted look at the Hero genre. People are therefore bemused by the sudden change. The trailer hints at the darker side of the film, but only briefly, and certainly doesn't hint at the 'twist' which shapes the last third of the film. I think a longer trailer would have been able to give a better flavour of the film, but would probably have turned more people off. I still think that as a 'different' hero film it works pretty well.
