Halo

Apart from the fact that a majority of the millions that bought the game probably enjoy playing the game (especially the multiplayer) and don't really care much about the story, Master Chief doesn't have a 'face' as such so will they go with a name actor or just a name 'voice' I wonder?
This would work better as a CGI movie really, rather like the orginal PC trailer for Halo.

Here is an interview with the director from Aintitcool.com:

"Quint: First and foremost, are you a fan of the games?
Neill Blomkamp: From a purely game playing perspective I am a massive fan of the games, but more importantly, i'm a massive fan of the world and universe of Halo, the science fiction world that the games take place inside of.
Quint: Which do you prefer, HALO or HALO 2?
Neill Blomkamp: From a playing perspective I like both. But from a conceptual and story perspective I prefer Halo 1.
Quint: You've worked in special effects before and have done many short films, commercials and videos. Did you do shorts like ALIVE IN JOBURG specifically to break into features with something like HALO?
Neill Blomkamp: No, I mean I

It doesnt look like we will get to see a Halo film according to Empire website:

"With Halo 3 selling roughly 4 billion copies every minute, now would seem like the perfect time to get things really underway on the long troubled Halo movie. But the man attached as director, Neill Blomkamp, has told Creativity Online that the movie is officially no more.

"The film is entirely dead. In the configuration it was in," said Blomkamp. "Whatever happens with that movie, assuming that movie gets made, will be a totally different configuration. It's not so much me as the entire vessel sank. Basically, it was a combination of; there were two studios involved that weren't getting along in the process of making it, Universal and Fox. That kind of stuff happens, it's a fragile industry. So the film collapsed at the end of last year, and it's been dead, ever since then. I'll be curious to see what happens".

The film ran into troubles last year when Universal and Fox both balked at co-financing what would have been a very expensive movie.

Halo tells of a battle between human super soldiers and an alien race and would have likely required a huge number of all-CG characters and the creation of multiple spacebound battles. When the troubles with the studios were announced a year ago, Peter Jackson, who was going to produce the movie and whose Weta studios would have done much of the effects work, said the movie would still go into production at some stage. But it now seems that Halo will remain on the small screen."

I agree an all out CGI movie would be better, the Final Fantasy films are amazing CGI wise and the characters seem alot better then when they get cheesed up by real life actors.
