Halo Lovers.. explain to me why halo is any better than...

explain to me why the halo series is better than PC first person shooters like Half Life , Counter-strike, Unreal Tournament, Doom, or Battlefield? PC shooters have been networked since Doom 1 at least, and keyboard+mouse is way better than any gamepad. Please elaborate for me, cuz i must be missing something.

Ehh, ive played hours and hours of Counterstrike. I used to be pretty damn good, not great, but good. Back then it didnt require a "gaming rig" to play, just an avg machine with a nice video card.

i'm not claiming halo 1 or 2 to be the end all of fps but there is NOTHING better than hooking up a few xboxs and have 16 people lans....the multiplayer alone is worth the price of admission. sure i can play fps online for the pc but i have never gotten the same experience from that that i do when i'm playing halo on w/ a group of friends just having a great time. thats what makes it better than any other fps to me and i readily admit that w/o the multiplayer, its just another fps

It's a decent game, but I also don't see why so many people (especially at my school) seem to think it is the end-all best FPS ever. I like Unreal Tournament and HL2 much more.

Also, I hate playing FPS's on consoles. Maybe if I tried playing Halo on a computer I'd like it better.

Halo is just good fun.. you don't have to be a 1337 computer nerd to play it. Cracking open a case of beer and hooking up 4 xbox's and and getting all your buddies playing > sitting in a dark room alone playing random other nerds online!

Its fucking fun. Me n about 8-10 or more buddies get together and play at least once a week. Nothing beats cussing and trash talking between rooms with your friends when you get a double kill.
