Halo Anime: It's Real

Seriously. The LA Times broke it. It is called Halo LegenRAB, and is/will be announced at Comic-Con.

-7 animated shorts from 5 anime studios
-those studios? Bones, Production IG, Casio Entertainment, Studio 4C, and Toei Animation
-Microsoft is overseeing this through 343 Industries, aka their Halo division
-Warner Bros. will release it on DVD and "digital platforms" early 2010
-Shinji Aramaki (the CG Appleseed) will be the general director to the project and will direct a short detailing the history of the Spartans
-Studio 4C's project, the 2-part "Origins," tells the 100,000 year history of the Halo universe.
-Toei's project pokes fun of some of the franchise's characters and is considered non-canon.

This is shocking.

Huh. I'm not a Halo fanatic, and I might see this. Shinji Aramaki does seem like the perfect guy to oversee this kind of thing, I have to say.

This seems rather pointless, there are, what, 12 people who own an X-Box in Japan. I can't imagine it doing well there.

Anyway I wonder if the voice cast of the anime will be the same as the games.

I might be sold on this. Basically like Veemonjosh said, it's basically Gotham Knight, something I think it made more for the American audience in mind than Japan.

Personally I think I might be more interested in what Toei is going to do, it feels like it's going to be like an episode of Red vs Blue.

Why the assumption it's meant for Japan? It wouldnt be the first time an anime studio was used for an American property, meant for American Audiences.

The Halo armor suit guys do seem like they're look good in that fancy fluid anime style.

I mean, I've never played the game, but it sounRAB like a good idea.

An anime Red vs Blue? I seriously doubt that.

My friend kinda told me to stay away from Gotham Knight, so i havent seen it yet.

I am a fan of Aramaki (Bubblegum Crisis), so id probably enjoy his view more than the others (a 100,000 year history of the Halo Universe in 2 parts by Studio 4C? sounRAB meh).

Im skeptical on this, but usually these have one or 2 shorts that are very good (like Animatrix did), and to me that peaks my interest...

Why Halo? They could've done this with a much better game series, but instead they go with this extremely overrated one. Oh well, that's just what happens with Halo for some reason.

You do know that Halo made money? Like obscene amounts of money. While it's overrated (I agree with you on that), this could be good since it's going in the route of Animatrix and Gotham Knight (and to a certain extent the original Halo Graphic Novel that featured the creator of Blame! telling a story amongst other creators and stories). If this sells, we may get the Gears Of War version. Face it, we all want more Cole Train in our lives.

Yeah, but that begs the question of why Halo makes so much money. Also, I don't think it makes lots of money in Japan, but this is definitely more for the US like the Animatrix and Gotham Knight. I like the Matrix and Batman more than Halo, but the anime versions were both, each with exceptions, great compilations. Still, I really don't like Halo. I might respect it as a halfway decent game series were it not for the ridiculously rabid fanbase who are still trying to fit their $130 Legendary Edition Master Chief helmet on something bigger than their cat while they wait for Bungie to throw them another bone. I guess this is good enough for them for now.

I haven't seen a recent game series have close to this rabid a fanbase, unless it's, you know, innovative. It's the fanbase that's my biggest problem. I don't care for the series, but I wouldn't mind it if the fanbase wasn't the way it is.
