Halloween III Season of the Witch

It's my favourite of the series after part 1.

It's a shame they decided to do it as a Halloween sequel but it does work as its own movie.

saw it once in 1992 and never seen it since!

it wasnt bad though - and i quite liked the idea of Carpenter taking his franchise into a different direction - as he intended on making a different story for every next Halloween installment. pity afterwarRAB Carpenter was out bidded and the rights were passed onto someone else - who wanted the Myres storyline back.

I like Halloween III. There's a long boring stretch in the middle and the villain is much more likeable than the main couple but it gets top marks for originality and there's a good creepy atmosphere. It's a shame the anthology idea for the Halloween series was ditched after this.

He sold the rights voluntarily. Originally John Carpenter & Dennis Etchinson wrote a script for Halloween 4 that was more of a psychological film with the town trying to recover from the last murder spree. The executive producer Moustapha Akkad insisted Michael Myers had to physically appear in the film to avoid another backlash like Halloween III got. Carpenter washed his hanRAB of the series when he was told Myers had to be resurrected, the original script was ditched, and we got that soulless bore Halloween 4 instead.

I have little good to say about Halloween 3.Looks cheap, the SFX are terrible, the lead characters are completely boring;even features a twist that is so predictable you will laugh. If it wasn't for the Halloween name attached,it would have sank without a trace onto the top shelf among dozens more nasty little B movies of the 1980's.

The best thing about it is veteran actor Dan O'Herlihy as the villain, but even he seems to be having a laugh at the inane plot twists, and
the way his demise is carried out is half arsed
.

Interesting idea and catchy little tune doesn't save this from being a turkey.

Halloween 3 is a load of rubbish.

Crap acting, crap story, crap shaky camera and not scary or tense at all.

You'll be very disappointed if you see this and expect it to be anything like the first two films even with John Carpenter directing it.

You'll think you're watching some Saturday morning kiRAB' film.

Avoid at all costs.

I've never seen the third installment, will have to watch it as this is the only Halloween film I've not yet seen.

As people have said, Carpenter's intention was to create seperate stories in the Halloween series, each having their own demon/villain, like Myers was in the first 2 films. Carpenter only reluctantly wrote the script for Halloween 2 and refused to get involved in any of the future Halloween films as Moustapha Akkad wanted to resurrect the Michael Myers character, which Carpenter didn't want to do.

A pity really, although I don't think Halloween 4 is all that bad really. It has it's good and bad bits, but it's not half as bad as some people say it is. Halloween's 5 and 6 where far far worse.
