hey all
just heard that rob zombie is to return to the halloween franchise to make a sequel to his remake of the original from last yr.
just wandering what every1 thinks about this?
im quite looking forward to it if im honest as apparantly it isnt a 'remake' of the original halloween 2.
it will be interesting to see what new direction the series will take, since after all, it is starting afresh.

Heard about this last week or so, it's terrible news, his first remake of Halloween was one of the worst things I have seen in the Horror world for a long time, horrendous. So him making the sequel to his remake, ugh, no thank you.

Halloween doesn't need to start afresh...

I'm in the same boat, fan of those two films but his Halloween was to put it blunty total shit.

He really did miss the whole point of Myers, his version basically destroys the character and turns him into some lumbering oath.

His redneck style horror works for certain things, Halloween it simply doesn't.

I have a feeling this may be the last Halloween movie to be released on the big screen.

...and some people actually bought into the Weinstein statement of 'there will never be another Halloween movie made' and Rob Zombie who stated he would not have any involvement in a sequel.

The Akkad family can't stop milking it,can they.

Considering the fact there is more depth to the movie than in Carpenter's original I will back Zombie's Halloween series all the way. Carpenter and many other movie makers around the same time were LAZY. They didn't add much to their scripts it could quite easily have been something John came up with one afternoon while sitting on the crapper. That is how much effort and time was spent on the originals storyline. Even in the sequels there is very little in the way of depth. It's all a rushed job to milk the Myers name for what it's worth. Rab Zombie breathed new life into a very stale franchise. A franchise I lost interest in years ago thanks to there being no end in sight to it all. His movie is two hours or so of entertainment, Zombie's version of Myers is more believeable than Carpenter's fake bullshit of a boogeyman. Carpenter's version belongs in the era it was made. Carp's version is not scary anymore. Zombie's version is more thrilling, his is more menacing and fearsome looking. A big hulk of a brute staring at you with a knife. Compared to Carpenter's tall skinny sneaks around and catches you where ever you are, no matter how fast or slow you run, AYE RIGHT. I know that if it wasn't for John's ideas Rab wouldn't have been able to remake it. As it wouldn't exist. But all Rab did was use what had potential but wasn't used to it's fullest in previous entries to the series, and HE made it work, unlike John Carpenter.

Your post is probably one of the worst posts ever.

The fact it's seen as a postive for you that Myers has been turned into a big lumbering oath of a killer with back story and some sort of reasoning behind his killing says it all, it's typical of modern thinking though, hey I know let's dress up a near seven foot wrestler and have him lumber around on screen for two hours, that's not scary.

That as you say is Carpenters Myers, who is a million times more scary than Zombie's, hell I don't even like the sister story that was stuck into the original halloween. Myers is just who he is, ambiguous Myers is how he should be, there really isn't any reasoning behind his killing, no reasoning behind why he is, he's just bloody evil.

Myers in Zombies version is the same as any other bloody killer, the whole character is destroyed by Zombie totally missing the point about what made Michael great.

The truth is always hard to swallow for some I see.

Your attempt [the quote above] at belittling my comments wont alter a thing.

You are in denial, matey.

Carpenter's Myers has much more in common with slasher movie killers from the past twenty odd years than Zombie's Myers. So you are wrong. It's Carpenter that is old and stale. We have seen Carp's style of killer way more in movies than Zom's style. John is stale and Rob is a breath of fresh air. I dislike Rob's other movies, but with Halloween, he got it right for once. He made it his movie, not a clone. And that is why it is good.

Sorry for saying it was the worst post ever, it wasn't I was just a bit tipsy :p

Weird as I really like his other films and hate his Halloween, I guess we just have opinions which are totally opposite :)
