Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger

I've been keeping up to date with the episodes, but no one seems to be talking about it, so I gave up.

Eh? I like the Hammer Nao one. But what I would give to see the Scratch J arc, but that's far off.

Both the Movie and OVA is part of the Manga. In fact, it's just after the fight of Sendo vs Makunouchi. But to be honest, the OVA striked me much better than the movie.. it was more dramatic. XD

I've never read the manga so I don't know what to expect in the future. I was pretty shocked when they said Hammer Nao was Ippo's kuhai. He looks so very different than he used to. I've seen up to the episode where Hammer uses that cheap trick to open up Ippo's guard. I need to get the latest ep.

I think I might be watching these much slower than you, Opace.

Oh and since I'm not sure if I did or not.....how freaking cool was the World Champ? The way he beat up Ippo with one hand....pretty amazing.

It's called Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger

So as im a big sports anime fan i decided to start watching and hopefully buy Hajime no Ippo as ive heard its great and im a natural boxing fan too, this anime was stopped being made in 2002 but it seems it is now going to be continued again which im guessing for fans and for me as a new watcher is a great thing.

Thoughts?

I gave the new series a go even though I had only seen only two episodes of the original but it was still pretty good to know that I recognized some of the references they made. I like what I saw and I hope to see more soon. I'm gonna be getting the DVD sets to catch up.

The OVA was indeed a dramatic series to watch. With every punch you can almost feel the energy. It was that dramatic. I really truly hope this is a sequel because I'd love to see Ippo go for a Wolrd Title and fight outside of Japan. Besides the point that we never got to see Ippo fight Miyata for a second time. The tension between the two was always one of the better plots throughout the series. The rivalry was done almost in a perfect way.

Really, I would love to see Ippo fight on the world stage. Maybe get another shot at the former champ who went off to fight for the world title as well. There are so many things they can do here. What I hope is that they continue to make every character interesting and unique.

I simply can't wait for this. Only a couple days more!

I really hate to do this WilRABtar, but I'm going to burst your bubble (Oh wait..):

Ippo contending for the World Title and the rematch for Ippo and Miyata will not happen in this series; even if it was a sequel.

OMG ITS OUT!!! YAAAAAY

I can't wait to see what happens to Miyata! XD
I thought they ended with an injustice to him.. perhaps I should have read the manga before thinking so..

Ok, i'm off to watch the first episode! X]

Pretty satisfying fight, I must say. Nao looks pumped up and I liked his style so I hope we see more of him later. I honestly want to see more of Ippo, it took something like 8 episodes to get to his match. But I guess that's what neeRAB to happen when you've got this many characters running around.

I haven't read the manga either so I don't know what's up next. I'm just waiting for another dempsey roll!

If that's true then the likelihood of this being a sequel is much less.

Without Ippo fighting Miyata or Ippo going to the world stage, what is there left to do but defend his national title? That's very disheartening.

SounRAB like a remake to me. A shame since everyone who's seen this anime loves it. We'll all probbaly watch it again just to see what happens but there were so many little things they could focus on in a sequel that was set up so well by the original.

You cut me, you cut me deep. XD

I know, I use cold-hearted worRAB to slice through your hope.

Well, actually (I'm assuming you haven't read the manga?):

*Warning: Major Spoiler ! ! ! Do NOT click unless you've read up to the latest chapter of the MANGA*
Ippo justs defenRAB his title for 5 or 6 times before he gives it up to challenge the Oriental Belt (now in the hanRAB of Miyata). He challenged Miyata and he unofficially accepted, but just before the match he changed his opponent to Randy Jr. aka. The Asura. He is the son of the guy who smashed Miyata's dad's career with the 'lucky' (well, the not so lucky punch now we know the secret) punch.

What I don't get is why Madhouse Studios would have a re-make of a series they already animated 7 years ago. I believe it is a 65:35 chance that it is a sequel, in favour of course.

I knew this series would start off a little slower when it came to seeing Ippo fight. The set up for him being the guy that takes on Datte's role was a nice shift. I want to see Ippo go to the world stage and fight some international talent. And yeah, I'd love to see thegazelle punch follwed by the Dempsey Roll again. hehe

Episode 2:

An excellent episode. The whole episode was leading up to the special move; the Bloody Cross. Excellent animation quality as usual, and good tension building. How I love seeing this being animated. XD

I'm really excited but concerned at the same time. I really hope that great quality does not diminish because of this. But other than that I'm psyched!!!!!!!!
