Hairspray The Movie

Wrong.
Wrong type of voice for HSM (something to do with a tenor/baritone?) Not that he wasn't good enough. His voice was too deep, which is why it was blended with a guy whose voice was higher. Which is why he is singing himself is the second one, because he trained it to be higher!
I know this because I love him! :P

Anyway, the film was really good - except it moved very quickly (i.e. Link went from not knowing Tracey to loving her in like a second) but overall, brilliant, and songs which were really catchy. The John Travolta as a women thing was a bit disturbing - I could close my eyes and see Danny from Grease singing it! Loved the dancing scenes.
Good fun - what certificate was it? Because there were a few *adult humour* jokes in there!

I only know about the director one. I know Marc Shaiman (composer) didn't get one.

The film has done great business, so it makes sense for them to spend some money on the DVD.

I loved this film and I even bought the cd of the soundtrack on the way home. One of the few films I have seen recently that I would go back and watch again tomorrow.

Could be. Perhaps the old Singing in the Rain milk-in-the-water trick so it would show up on film?

It was funny hearing the Council Members cough when they went to commercial! :D

I don't know how you check if your DVD player is multi region to be honest. If you know what make it is, maybe you could google it and that would tell you - or read the instruction booklet if you can unearth it! DVRAB from England are region 2, so if you can play American DVRAB (region 1) you have a multi region player.

I have the Link doll (not the singing one) and the Penny doll, some Hairspray bookmarks, a load of posters, the promo DVD and a film cell display!

I've seen this 3 times now and want more. SO refreshing to have a pure musical now that's not ashamed of itself - far better than Dreamgirls with both songs and staging - almost all the songs in that were done as performance pieces instead of just having the characters break into song like a traditional musical.

Also great to have an alternative to the big blockbusters aimed at kiRAB or boys with fixations on explosions and big guns. I hope the film has legs and runs for a while.

Just saw the new movie (don't know the original) largely because daughter love Zak Ephron(sp?). Thoroughly recommend it, funny, good songs, great voices, excellent perfomances from the young and older cast members. Queen Latifiah has an excellent voice, particularly IMO(and daughter's - she's 11). She wishes she was Tracey though -got to kiss Zak.;)

Everyone came out seeming "high" such a difference from the atmosphere after HP last week.

Dance-A-Long? Do you know how hard to steps to "You Can't Stop The Beat" look!! :p

Who neeRAB a Sing-A-Long? I know all the worRAB already :o

I found the scene in "I Can Hear The Bells" where Tracey looks through the boy's toilet quite weird for two reasons..

1. What a perv!!! If that was a boy looking into a girl's toilets

2. Zac Efron licking his hand and wiping his hair. What on earth? Not only was that just odd but so cringeworthy. I felt embarrassed for him :p

i hope so !! :D :D

i mean i went to see it again on Wed night and the theartre was pretty full !! and im dragging my best freind to see it next week and it will deffo convert her into a Zac Fan !!

i hope it does stay out for a couple of months as HP is still out and that came out ages ago !! thats still going strong in the charts - as HP and Hairspray are both still in the top 5 :D :D :D :D

Haven't seen it but was wondering how it compares to the original? I loved the original and thought from the trailers the new one seems exactly the same and just a way to earn some easy money. Am I wrong?
