I have never seen the original so had nothing to compare but loved it . A real feel good film with a morale to it.
All the main charaters were excellent. A theatre version coming to WE in october with Michael Ball as the mum and Mel Smith as the dad. Wonder who will be cast as Link? neeRAB someone with load sof sex appeal - I suggest Ben Ellis from Any dream will do - he would do it justice!
I saw it yesterday and I loved it too. As someone said above, the songs are so catchy that people were clapping along and also cheering I definitely want to go to the West End version now.
I really couldn't get used to JT as a woman but I thought he played it really well. I've never seen Zac Efron in anything before and he's way too young for me but I can see why the teenagers love him he's so cute. Anyone else awww at the end?
I've just remembered the bit in I can hear the Bells where Tracey comes out of the cubicle with a bog roll veil and train! while the Pink Lady look-a-likes look on in disgust! lol
I love Hairspray and really want to enjoy this movie. i know this is a lame reason, for not being totally in love with it, but John Travolta just puts me off. I just can't see past that completely unconvincing make-up
