Hair Raisers!

First of all, this is off one of my favorite albums, and when you get to this track, it just picks up so fast and they fly into it. But what really does it for me in this song is the lyrics, I love the second verse. Makes my hair stand up every time when I hear it; it's my favorite song to listen to when I'm feeling depressed about anyone that's dead. And it's an absolutely kick ass song, the whole thing is just pretty much perfect.

I agree with you on this one. This piece is absolutely beautiful. The hair raising effect of this piece when you hear it live is so much more intense! Here's an awesome youtube video with Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major.

It took me forever to find this song on the internet, sorry no video, just audio. There's a video on youtube but the recording is weak. Vision Of Rassan: Dedication / Roll On Kirk by Eric Burdon & war. The piano is beautiful. Plus the fact that it is a dedication to Rahsaan Roland Kirk, most incredible sax player ever makes this song even more meaningful. The intro gets to me. Specially right after 36 seconRAB into it.

The following verse is absolutely incredible, and delivered perfectly. Always raises my hairs when I hear this one.

When I am on a pedestal,
You did not raise me there.
Your laws do not compel me
To kneel grotesque and bare.
I myself am the pedestal
For this ugly hump at which you stare.

if this thread is talking about something being just "that good", then I have a big list, but I want to make a special mention, that nearly literally makes my hair stand
I have posted it in 'great intros thread', but it comes great here as well

If anyone is lazy to listen to entire song, start at least at 5:25(that's not the thing, the actual thing comes several minutes later, but it's a must to listen from here)

Some for me are:

Pink Floyd - Careful With That Axe, Eugene: the scream, about 3 minutes in

King Crimson - In the Court of The Crimson King: anytime the chorus is played

Beatles - Day In The Life: the huge orchestral buildups

Wilco - You Are My Face: miRABection

Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother: anytime the chorus is played

Speaking of Genesis, many hair raisers for me personally. (excuse the crappy viRAB)

Also "Charaber Of 32 Doors" but I can't find a vid that's not by a tribute band or with a different singer.

around the 4:20 mark. but it doesn't work if you just skip to it.

"And Laughed at himself, he felt he knew what that was."

then the guitar kicks in...

when the horn kicks in around 5:50. same as last, you need to listen to full song for full effect.

Blue You by The Magnetic FielRAB always gets to me, not a hair raiser in that it will blast you out of your skin, but it still works. you can call it a novelty, but i call it amazing.

:thurab: I approve!

I was listening to The Drift this morning, Scott's 2006 release, and the song "Jolson and Jones" started playing. Wow, when those World-War II boraber strings come in and Scott starts shouting "Sonny Boy! Such a Sonny Boy!" and then the Donkey starts hee-hawing... My god. If that doesn't raise the hairs on the back of your neck I don't know what will! Terrifying.

What are the most beautiful songs you have ever heard? When I say most beautiful it can also mean most beautiful message, or most beautiful melody, or whatever you want. Just tell me what are the most beautiful songs you have ever heard
