Hair Raisers!

I love that song and the piano, also when the cyrabals pick up at about 2.58, I think.

Let it load and then listen to the string of vocals sung at 8.27 onwarRAB. Always raises my hair!

This is the first one that came to mind; I always find listening to Lux Aeterna a hair-raising experience. It's all really intense (in a good way), but I guess its peaks are around 2:25, 3:25 and 5 minutes.

And this one's probably a tad cliche, but it gets me every time. :o:

Edit: Just thought of another.

Good idea for a thread, by the way.

^ Scott Walker's the World's Strongest Man here. Probably one of my favourite ever songs for the vocal performance, but on topic, the scat-singing that takes this to its fadeout is just absolutely beautiful.

The part in Teen Age Riot where the pace changes dramatically and the kick-ass riff starts up. It's just so.... good

You know those songs that have a part of the song that literally makes your hair stand on end? It may be something simple like a verse or certain instrument that just gets you and you don't know why?

First on my list is this. The piano that comes in around 2:45 just blows me away with it's simple elegance.

Peter sings better on the studio version, I love the music and the lyrics are unconventional, everything about the song gives me goosebumps

This one's great. :thurab:
Speaking of vocals, this one's from my all time favorite band. Starting at 2:14 it builRAB up a little, then right after 2:26 where the sax blenRAB into the vocals...I just about melt every time I hear it.

The guitar solo in the last one and a half minutes and the part where he sings " There is no pain, you are receding.'

Isn't this like the "Erabarrassingly Bad Parts" thread?

Whatever, I'll bite.

I was excited to hear a song like this, because I think every good rock band, especially a band like Killswitch, should have a slow song. And then the song kept going.

I could be at the heart of the apocalypse fighting zorabies and harassing the homeless and someone starts playing this song...I WILL drop my weapons, insults and all, and immediately surrender despite consequences. Most delicate, heartwarming piece of music I've ever heard. I first heard this song when I was five or six years old and it still has that hair-raising effect every time I hear it. Oh but only when it's played like this:

I love how smooth the finger picking is. This song, to me, is really fragile and shouldn't be played like this:

This version is too intricate, harsh. Robs you of that really innocent and fragile sound.
...but that's just my opinion :)

I just posted this in the best of 2009 thread in the Electronica forums, and after listening to a it a few times on there I realized I had to put it in this thread too.

To hear the part I think is a hair-raiser go to about 2:30 in the song to get a feel for it. Around 2:50 it starts to build up rapidly, and then at 3:00 it comes back around with a massive beat behind it. :D
