Hair Follicle question

Hi..Is it possible to have an irritated hair follicle behind the ear if you can feel it but not see it? There's no redness or anything but I can feel a bump and it is PAINFUL! I haven't ever had that before so I thought I would ask. Thanks!
 
Yes, it sounds like a blind pimple, they're common around the ears.

A warm compress can ease the pain and help it go away faster.
 
I had one there years ago, it became infected and grew huge and very painful. i had to go to the Doctor and have it lanced. As the previous poster said it is a common place for cysts.
