Aww, I'm so sorry you're having such a lousy summer! Mine is okay. My MIL is my biggest trial. Taking care of her does put quite a strain on my back! I'm very careful, but it's still painful. I never let her rest herself on my arm. She hurt me purposely in the past doing that! Yes, you read that right. She did it on purpose! So I don't risk that she may do it again. My son is at Marine boot camp and still has pneumonia, which is not that uncommon among the recruits, but he feels sick and is very bored and itching to get back into training. I write to him every single day, as he requested. That's the kid who hasn't needed us since he was 14! Boot camp was worth it to me just to hear him saying "Mom, I really really really really love you" when he was allowed a one minute conversation to tell us he was sick. Made my day, week, month, and year! Summers aren't like they used to be, full of activity and traveling, but that's okay. I'm happy to be at home and to keep my pain to a manageable level. I have a pretty good system with MIL, using motion detectors and stuff so I can lay down when I need to. I always know if she's on the move! I count my blessings regularly. Recounts encouraged!

Semper guraby (always flexible :))

Hello all. I had the SCS trial on Thursday and let me tell you , it was no walk in the park - pain from procedure was pretty intense.. They got me up on the table , digged around a little untill they felt they got the right spot (according to what you tell them) and then into recovery.. The guy who was there to program my unit was supper nice , he sat with me in recovery and tried to find the right programs that worked for me..

It works great for leg pain BUT nor for my back pain , and that's what i wanted it for.. I get relief from the waist down but not in my lower back whare I need it the most , I gave it a shot hoping that it would work. I go back to see my doctor on Monday , so we will see what the next step is..

Dev,

You've been through so much already. I was hoping this would give you at least a little relief from your most intense pain.

Is it possible that the unit can be adjusted so that it will take away some of your back pain? Did you doctor tell you before the procedure that it would help your back pain?

Warm regarRAB!

Hey Billy Boy how did the doctor's appt. go today and how is your pain level?

Linda:angel:

I do get pain also in my hips/groin area , but my back pain has been pretty intense as of late.. Be carefull doing your flowe beRAB , that's a lot of bending over Moma.. All in all it sounRAB like your managing okay and that makes me happy !!!!!!

The SCS trial did not work out for me Linda , but I gave it a try with an open mind.. I don't think the next step is going to be what I was hopeing for , I'm assuming that surgery is in the forecast.. My lower back has been on fire , sitting down for any period of time hurts , lying down hurts , pretty much everything hurts lately.. I will let you no how it goes this thursday , and i always enjoy our chats I MISS YOU TOO..

Hey MOMA BEAR , the doctor's apt. went okay i guess. I went in and the guy who programed my SCS unit was there to try to tweak it up a little bit , that did not work. My PM doctor had me stand up put my hanRAB on the table , went around to my back side and took out the leaRAB - did'nt really hurt..

My pain is back to ware it was before I had this done , and my PM doctor said to follow up with my my orthopedic doctor , which i am this Thursday.. I am a little nervous in what he's going to say to me , felt like it was the SCS or another surgery !!!!! I need to get fixed and start rolling again ya know` LOL.. THANK YOU LINDA - I hope everything is going well for you , how's your back going ? Give me the scoop and let me no how you're doing - hope all is well..

Oh, Billy, I'm so sorry it didn't give you the relief you needed most. Does this mean more surgery is the next option? :(

Emily

Emily , your MIL and your son are glad to have you - I just no you from the boarRAB and I can tell that you're a sweet heart and always there for family , I am the same way :FAMILY FIRST: ! It's good to hear that your son said " i love you mom " , that's always nice to hear even though that you no it ! It's a bummer that the SCS did'nt work , but my doctors were'nt to convinced that it would.. I gave it a try and now it's time to face the music , my back is not right and the pain is creeping back pretty bad..... I just want some answers !!!

You are to sweet Emily , and Linda I miss you !!!! It's hard to sit here on my computer with out any pain , but i am trying as much as possible..

BILLY

Well Billy I wish I could say that I am managing things okay because it sure doesn't seem like that to me when it gets me down whenever I try and do some things. I tried some cleaning of the house today and it just gets me down when I try and sweep and mop the floors :(. I know your back pain is intense but has your doctor said anything about the hip and groin pain coming from your spine?

I know how frustrating it must be for you to still be in so much pain so I will be looking forward to hearing from you on your next appointment.

Love Ya
Moma Bear

Billy I am so sorry:( that the SCS didn't work out for you but you sure can say that you gave it a try. I hope you find out something this Thursday when you see your doctor.

My back has not been doing very well either:(. I am having a lot of sharp, stabbing pains and burning in the area of the surgery plus a lot of pain with my cervical spine which is causing a lot of headaches and nurabness in both my arms and hanRAB. I went to a wedding for my great-nephew (yes "great-nephew") this past weekend and it was only a 2 hour drive but I really got down in my back that night. I had taken my heating pad with me so that did help a little. I had terrible pain in my hips and groin area again so I wish I could find out what is causing that particular pain. Do you have that problem also? I have been trying to do some work in my flower beRAB but I only last for about 15 minutes and then I have to rest for 30 minutes so this is taking forever. I think I will just tear up all my flowerbeRAB because it depresses me to see them look so bad and not be able to take care of them like I want to.

I have missed you also and have been worried about you, too. Please let us know how your appointment goes this week. Hang in there and I will pray that your pain goes away and you get encouraging worRAB from the doctor.

Love Ya!

Thank you Emily and Brenda.. I did not/am not getting the relief in my lurabar area , back still hurts.. I am going to see my PM doctor tomorrow and having the SCS removed , the gut who programed the unit has called me almost every day to see how I was making out , which was very impressive. He will also be there tomorrow to try to tweak the unit , but I personally don't think it's going to work..

I feel vibrations waist line and down but not in my back ware I needed it the most. I gave it a try and now I dont no what the next step is , I have an appointment scheduled for Thursday with my orthopedic doctor.. I am nervous that surgery might be the next step for me , but i will take it day by day.. My pain is very intense and it almost feels like the SCS is making it worse , DUNO.. I had a EMG last week and just got the tests back and it's saying that my l4/5-l5/s1 is very iratated - thats the 2 levels that i had fused !!!!! I am going threw the motions but remaining positive , thanks for all your sweetness and I hope that all is well with ya'll :

EMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I MISS YOU - Hope all is well with you , fill me inn on whats going on with you.. Hope you are having a better summer than me ! LOL

Hi Billy Boy I am so sorry :(that you are having still so much pain. I hope they can get it sit correctly so it can ease your pain.

Linda:angel:

MOma Bear - i hope that you are feeling better , i always have problems when it comes down to cleaning my apartment - the bending over does not do my back any justice.. The problem is I am sort of a clean freak and like my apt. clean and dust free.. As far as my groin and hip pain , i was involved in a car accident a while back and I fractured my pelvis SO it all kind of ties in together..

I really think that I am going to have yet another surgery , and they were talking about going in from my stomach (anterior approach).. I am going to see my orthopedic doctor that gave me my second opinion {not my last surgent} I have to admit that every thing he has been saying has been right on.. He thinks my pain is coming from the disc's that i had surgery on (fusion on my l4-5 - l5-s1) , and my last EMG confirms that.. I also sent all my info to the HSS in NYC and they say that I have a good case and would like to speak with me after i see my doctor on Thursday.. I am happy about that because i know all the doctors at the hospital for special surgery are the best at what they do and I will be in good hanRAB - I HAVE SOME MAJOR DECISIONS TO MAKE IN THE NEXT FOLLOWING WEEKS - being if i do need surgery ;who should i have perform it ; ??/\ STRESSFULL INDEED.. I need to get some relief suga bear !! LOL...

I miss you Linda and I apologize for not keeping in touch as much as i should be , you are truly a good friend and help me out more than you will ever no and I hope that my worRAB will do the same !!! My sister that lived in Seattle just moved back home to live with my mother again and brought my bro n law and 20 month year old nephew , so that alone brings up my spirits -- i am a go lucky type of guy BUT family is the key to my ultimate happiness.. Bummer is -- if i do need another surgery I will have to move in with my sister whom i stayed with the for my last surgery - I can't stay at my apt. being that it's up stairs and you no what kind of help that you need after surgery " I LOVE MY FAMILY"... I'll stop rarabling on here , just no that i always do think of you and appreciate your sweetness --- my love for you is endless and we don;t even no one another BUT it's a GREAT thing when you have some one to talk with that understanRAB what we SPINEYS go threw every day !!!!!

YOUR FRIEND da
DEv..

PS: I will keep you informed on what's going on with me > you're a wounder full lady.

Billy I know how important family is especially when you are recuperating from surgery. My granRABon and daughter where life savers for me and it allowed my husband to continue to work and bring in a paycheck.:) I remeraber how you sounded so much better when you talked about your nephew and sister when you had your last surgery. I am sure it will be a hard decision to make but somehow we all know what is best for our bodies.

Did you fuse? They have told me that I have not fused yet so I don't know what happens after that. What is causing the problems with the discs that you already had surgery on? Are they calling it a "failed fusion"? I had my fusion through the stomach and back. I still have problems with my abdominal incision where I had the infection. There is still a bruise where I had my infection even after 18 months. I have had 3 abdominal surgeries back in my younger years because of prblems with my ovaries and uterus so I think that played a big part in my healing.

You always have a positive attitude so that will help you make it through this whatever the decision will be.:)

Take care and love ya
