Hi all. I had my microdisectomy yesterday, and I can't believe how well I feel. The surgery took longer than he thought - 2 hours, and apparently I made the right decision to have it done. He said the herniation and fragment were HUGE! I have ZERO leg pain/weakness or butt pain. The only pain is the incision, and that's not bad at all! Thank you all for all of your prayers and kind worRAB; you have truly been my frienRAB.

Great news Holly! Congratulations! I am so glad you are feeling great! Keep us posted and keep the uplifting posts coming!
Blessings,
Michelle

OH WOW HOLLY! FANTASTIC NEWS! I am so glad you are feeling "pain free"! AWESOME NEWS! You rest and keep that going gal! All my best to you. Tammy:wave:

Wonderful news! That's grand. I'm sure I am probably not the first to tell you - go slow! Don't push. As my PT says to me every single week: stay focused on your movements, keep your spine in a neutral position, stabilize your lower back, and BE DELIBERATE. I'm rooting for you - Suzy-Q

Hi,

Thank you dear frienRAB! It's been 8 days, and I feel GREAT!!! I'm slowly getting off of the pain meRAB. I've had some slight withdrawals - nothing horrible (and I want to keep it that way!)
I have one more week off work, the weather here is great, and I start Ladies' Bible Study tonight! God is good!!! Thank you all for you prayers and kind worRAB. Flutter, thanks for remerabering, and Carol, I'm going to look for your posts to see how you're doing. God bless you all.

How are you feeling a week on, Chebird? Glad to hear you were so positive after the surgery. It can be very distressing to read some of the horror stories of things going wrong. I myself had my micro-D almost 4 weeks ago now. I was off all painkillers within a week of the op and was driving as well. I am now in the process of partially bending over. But as the wise person said, take it easy, don't push yourself, and remain positive.

cheers

Hi there! I have not had a micro-D; however, I have had 4 spinal surgeries and anytime you have surgery of the spine, muscles are being moved and nerves are manipulated. So it is very normal to have alot of pain. The most important thing at this point is to keep the pain medication in around the clock - set that alarm at night and be sure to take the medication. If you get behind on the medication, your pain will get out of control and it takes a lonnnnnnng time to get it back under control.

If you meRAB are not covering the pain, call you doctor and tell them that you are in alot of pain and give them an example of the severity of the pain. An example would be that it is worse than being in labor and pushing but since this is your hubby maybe he could use being in a car/motorcycle accident. This gives them something concrete to compare the severity of the pain.

A previous poster that had a micro-d name was ustalaughalot. You can do a search on her name. You can also do a search on the word discectomy on the back board and you should have more threaRAB come up.

Good luck and please keep us posted.
