I broke the antenna off of my modded e815. I really liked the unlocked features that the phone provided. I have a bluetooth PDA and it was nice being able to sync between the two as well as OBEX pics and movies.

What phone should I buy now so that I can do some of the same stuff....I was thinking that maybe I should just get a refurb of the same one. Any insight would be great.

Depending on the damage to the antenna, $35 seems a bit high. The antenna would be extremely easy to replace yourself. You could try going to one of your carrier's stores and if they have a spare they may be willing to just give it to you or sell it to you. The company i work for used to sell new oem antennas for the motorola v710 for $10 so it would be a cheap problem to fix.

And we sell used antennas for $5. I was working on the assumption that the rear housing was also broken adnd neede to be replaced as the worst case scenario as that is what we normallu see. That price also includes return shipping.

I didn't just break the piece that slides in and out of the phone. I broke the hard case part. You know how you can unscrew the antenna and take it out of the phone. Well that whole part is fine; its the case where the antenna threads into. Is that still a cheap easy fix. Where can I get the part?

Thanks

Well at least I was correct on that point.

The repair is cheap, especially if you do not need the antenna. I have no idea where you can get the housing.

O if the housing was cracked then it wasn't as cheap and easy as I thought but should still be relatively easy. Every time I have snapped off the antenna, I always always able to screw the base out and screw a new antenna back in.

You could get a replacement housing by searching eBay for damaged e815's that are listed as "for parts" When looking for parts phones, make sure you read the listing carefully to make sure the part you need is not damaged and if you are unsure, make sure to email the seller.
