GYM QUESTION : im 16?

so im 16 n i wanna join the gym coz im kinda skinny ...i wanna look big with broad shoulders n back.
the problem lies that last year i got a knee ligament injury (overstretching of ligament) in an accident.
so i need to make my legs strong for that ...my knees have become weak. Should i join the gym and workout my legs or make them stronger at home with non weighted squats.

and and my feet have stopped growing i dont know why? i mean they are smaller than my bro's who is of the same height but he is 20

Also, will gym retard my growth ...im 6' currently
