Gym Contract at 16? (UK)?

I joined DW Gym last month i payed one payment and relised i couldnt afford it the contract is 6 months. Ive been told being 16 I shouldnt legally be able to sign the contract. If i cancell the direct debit at my bank i am also too young to get the bank charges from the gym. Any ideas if this would be ok?
