Guys: question about how you dance with a girl?

ok so there this guy on my soccer team and his name is Sean. I only know him casually from soccer we met a few months ago when the season started. I never really talked to him much but he seemed nice and I liked him ok. Then at a dance on Friday I was talking to his twin sister who is super nice I like her a lot. a slow song came on so I asked Sean to dance with me. It was so great I am so glad I asked him. It was the first I really got to talk to him and I found out how super sweet and really cute he is. All of the other guys I have slow danced with before were just friends too and they always put their hands on either side of my waist and we stood like a whole arms length away. But when I asked Sean, he put his arms all the way around my waist and held the small of my back. He also held me close to him. He is the first guy to dance with me like that. I was sort of ecstatic. Then I saw him dancing with another girl. I didn't care much because I know we are just friends I had no right to be jealous at all and I told myself he was just being nice dancing with her and that she probably asked him. But I'm not gonna lie, I was a little jealous.
I was thinking about him all weekend. I couldn't wait until soccer when I could talk to him again but practice got cancelled because of rain and I haven't seen him since. Then today I heard that he was going out with that other girl. Again, not gonna lie, I was a little hurt.

Now I guess my question is that I thought that the way he was holding me meant that he liked me a little. Was I totally wrong about that? Does he think of me totally as a friend only?
