So there is this guy who I have tons of classes with and I am really starting to like him. I was txting him for a few hours last night and we started talking about our plans for the future. I told him that I was planning on going to college then getting at least a masters in something. Then I found out that he's going to join the army. I told him that it was cool, but I was still really shocked, so then I asked him why he wants to, and he told me he doesn't have a choice. I found out that his parents are verbally abusive and tell him that they hate him. They want him to drop out of school when he's 16 and get a job for two years. Then he will join the military. I was almost crying because we're fairly good friends and I really love him. I told him that he should try to bunk with some friends, but he said that he's not good at home and that they would regret it. He said that it's too needy though, so he will just go into the army. Then I told him that even though your parents hate you, it's not a good enough reason to drop out of school and pretty much give up on your life, but his response to that was "I have to ill die in the war anyway so f*** me." Then I told him that he still has his friends and what his parents say doesn't mean everything! Then I asked him about boarding school, but he said that it's just not meant for him (hes not really an academic) and if its gods will its gods will. I told him that I really don't want him to go! Then it got even more depressing because he told me that since I'm really smart I should be come a doctor so if he gets shot in Iraq he could see me. I said that that would be really cool but let's hope I'm a good doctor and can save him. 
Then we were talking about how if he comes back from war he hopes he can see me for a happier reason than he's about to die. That was really sweet so it was just a bunch of smiley faces for awhile, but then I asked him what other people thought of his future, and I found out that he doesn't tell anyone! He told me he trusts me, and hoped that I could help.
So..... I need to help him out... because this is making me literally cry. What can I do? I want to help him, but I'm not sure how! Can someone help me here? god bless you if you can.
