"Gurren Lagann" On Sci-Fi's Ani-Monday Block - Talkback *MAJOR SPOILERS*

Geez, episode 4 wasn't THAT bad, and at least it wasn't a major episode. (Outside of the introduction of the Black Siblings, that is.) I've seen much worse, to the point where I actually dread watching those episodes again. Not so much with this one, which can look pretty fun and funky at times. I actually dislike the way episode 9 looks more. Sure, it fit the overall atmosphere and Nia looked as cute as ever, but I found myself wanting to punch Simon in the face every time he showed up on screen.

So Kamina's death was technically an "act of God", then?

At least Shinji never threw up in his cockpit. Renton, maybe, but not Shinji.

Oh, what mech DOESN'T have a "Berzerker mode" these days?

Oh, it was bad. The writing was flat out terrible--episode 3 established their corabining awesomeness and 4 just rehashed it for no reason. 4 is useful for introducing Kidan and his sisters and that's really about it. And the animation really was way, way off.

But hey, it can be overlooked. Better to have a bad one early than late.

Have any details been revealed about the Gurren Lagann boxset coming out later this year? Amazon tells me almost nothing, and I'm thinking about asking for it for Christmas.

Yeah, but the first time they did it, it was really lame initially and it took a moment to really kick in. The point of supposedly 'rehashing' it was to get all the kinks out of the corabining sequence and master it.

it goes beyond that. the fact that they felt it was worth mentioning means it's pulling in good ratings, which means good things for Sci Fi as a whole. in other worRAB more companies might start looking their way, instead of Adult Swim.

anyways... it's MONDAY, get ready for the awesomeness that is Gurren Lagann 15. hopefully the commercials don't ruin it too much.
