"Gurren Lagann" On Sci-Fi's Ani-Monday Block - Talkback *MAJOR SPOILERS*

English, mainly because I can't remeraber most of it in Japanese XD and i think it just connects better because I can feel the emotion and understand it at the same time with out reading subtitles. I'm very pleased with the way the dub cast pulled everything off- Simon was probably done the very best.
 
So originally I saw an unimpressive trailer for Gurren Lagaan. Lately I got RABL and watched scifi.com's video of the first episode. Now that I've watched more tonight, I can honestly say this is a very good show and is EASILY more entertaining than Code Geass. The music is very good (excellent OP), the characters are very likeable, and the mecha is very impressive (I've never seen a mecha with two faces, let alone shades, before). It's also very funny.

And if this shows sucks, I could watch just for the funny episode titles. I'm also noticing rules for a drinking game following (so far I got when the older brother says "durabass" or "who the hell do you think I am" or everytime I say "very").

And until I know the guy's name (that includes spelling), I'm calling the gay guy voiced by Steven Blum .... Gay Blum.
 
OOOOOOOH! I bet Derrick Wyatt would love to work on a show like that. He IS not only part of the TF:A staff but a fan of both Transformers AND Gurren Lagann.



Not to mention half the characters she voices now seem to have a crush on a character Johnny Yong Bosch happens to be playing. (And I don't know whether to blame Eureka Seven on that or not since that's the earliest known example I can think of in which that's happened)
 
Last week Simon finally came into his own as Gurren Lagann's pilot, rescuing the entire crew from capture and then later defeating Adiane and Viral's attack from the sea, resulting in Adiane's death. Meanwhile Nia, who trusted Yoko with her life in the course of the battle, was completely accepted by Yoko at last. Oh, and there was some beach fanservice on the side.

Now, only two of the Spiral King's generals remain. Team Dai-Gurren's march toward the Beastmen's capital continues.

Excellent news. After hearing about how badly an anime I love is doing in sales or ratings, it's nice to hear some good news for a change.

BTW, could someone please provide a screenshot of Squidward's appearance in Gurren Lagann? I don't remeraber seeing him when the episode aired.
 
I remeraber feeling iffy about the whole "hide underground" defense against the impending lunar collision up until this episode. Heh, they had the right idea after all. Goodbye all life.

Wow, what an awesome finale!!!!!

The Kittan siblings so RULE with their braveness.

I love Nia,with her courage/braveness to see her nasty slimeball father.

Viral's multi-armed mech looks awesome,but the battle would of been longer though.

Lord Genome's girls become his drill weapons,awesome.

In the finale ultimate battle,Lord Genome's gunman looks wicked awesome & very powerful in battle.

I love that chick in the engine room who's awesome & hot who's named Leite.

Lord Genome looks so scary/creepy with the flaming head which I better bring water to put it out,hehehehe.

Genome's death was amazing/gruesome with a tiny drill through his torso leaving a huge hole,YIKE!!!! & goodbye to an awesome evilest villain & many other worst anime villains' deaths were just as awesome as that scene.

From Genome's warning, there's gonna be a greater evil that's far worse than him.

Peace is restored which Simon & Nia make the best couple since Renton & Eureka which enRAB the finale of an awesome entertaining mech series next to Code Geass.

The Recap episode is okay which is odd with the pencil drawing part.

Seeing the Kamina parts makes us miss him,he's such a great awesome character for all major GL fans.

Good to see Viral's first appearance again which he was an awesome kickbutt villain voiced by Sam Regal.

Good to see Nia's first appearance again which she's so adorable/brave/funny.

Ugh,we have to see that annoying disgusting Adiane again which she annoyed me,but I'm glad she died.

Good to see Guame's slap bashing from Nia again,so funny.
 
I love this show.
Kamina is the epitome of a manly man who only comes off as a total dork XD. "Who the hell do you think I am!". Probably one of my favorite lines through out the show [expecially the way older Simon reused it in the beginning]. He's such an immensely great and influencing character. His relationship with Simon is so cute, he makes an awesome older brother. I'm really hyped for more next week. I think the dub sounRAB wonderful. Leeron! Everybody neeRAB a token cross dresser.
 
Starting tonight, we have three weeks left in Gurren Lagann's second Ani-Monday run! We have two more next week, followed by a three-episode marathon on June 22.

Last time, things went from bad to worse when a simulation done by Leeron revealed a horrifying truth. When the anti-spirals cause the moon to strike the Earth, the planet will be rendered uninhabitable for a whole year. With time running out as the moon steadily hurtles toward the planet, Rossiu makes the hard decision to evacuate the citizens of Kamina City and the animals of the Earth in Arc Gurren--abandoning the hundreRAB of thousanRAB in the Earth's underground shelters to certain doom. Rather than attempt to destroy the moon and risk humanity's extinction should they fail, Rossiu plans to escape and save what lives he can to ensure that mankind will survive past this crisis.

Kittan and most of Team Dai-Gurren remain to battle the anti-spirals on Earth with their old Beastmen robots. Meanwhile Simon and his unlikely cellmate Viral are confronted by Nia's anti-spiral self once more, who informs the duo of Rossiu's escape plan. But she reveals that even that is doomed. The anti-spirals are waiting for the humans in space, ready to destroy them and inflict "absolute despair."

However, a gunshot rings in the dark, and all may not be lost.

Two awesome episodes today,(except for annoying boring recaps)

Kamina rocks & kick butt which was hilarious with him hating that stupid High Priest jerk with his own beliefs & ugly mug to top it off & especially when he owned those bathhouse Beastmen, you DON'T WANT TO MESS with him.

Johnny Bosch rocks as Rossiu who's got the Renton/Ichigo voice which he's a great character out of all kickbutt characters he's done like Vash/Ichigo/Kiba/Renton/Lelouche.etc

Yoko(my favorite) kicks butt & is so hilarious beating up on the poor guys when they smell bad.

Man, the Japanese are so obsessed with Playboy bunny chicks, but they are cute, even Haruko from FLCL,Amelia from Slayers & Elena from Variable Geo are great examples.

Those Beastmen are awesome which the crazy wolf-lady(sounRAB like Torpedo Girl) & cute bad bunny girls are my favorites so far what I wonder what the writers will think of next.

Hello VIRAL, we've been expecting you which Kamina's memory loss on him was so hilarious.
