"Gurren Lagann" On Sci-Fi's Ani-Monday Block - Talkback *MAJOR SPOILERS*

Thanks , Mr. Highwind and Tenku. This may turn into another Eureka Seven/ Blood+ situation for me then (not liking it at first, loving it later), lol.

Bandai's had a lot of delays with their publishing this year. Gurren Lagann isn't the only case, unfortunately.

I have to admit, I purchased the last episode on iTunes about two weeks ago because I didn't want to wait for the rerun. But I'll watch it on TV too.

Oh man... it's good to see them all alive again.
I'm totally getting this, I JUST finished Gurren lagann's last 3 episodes, I've never cried and awed so much in an anime before.

Gurren Lagann is one of very few anime to touch my heart, make me cry, fangirl, get angry and scream in triumph.. yes, I did all of that.

And as much as it made me do that I think they'll be able to get me to do it again, just in a school setting, I got my glasses on and I'm ready to peirce the heavens!....in school

A recap of the episode that was just on.

***SIGH***

This of many in this episode, but there's some good in this.

Like fanservice.

...

But not as much as the dvd version.

Dub sounRAB good, especially impressive for the short time they had to record it. I think Michelle Ruff is perfect as Yoko. Though for curiosity and comparison's sake, I'd love to hear ADV's version of the same episode, hehe.

As for episode 1 itself, it really kicks in during the second half, though that goes without saying. I've always loved the big battle scene- it manages to be both cartoony and action-packed.

Oh, and Yoko is the best anime character design of 2007.

It didn't need to hit us over the head or anything, but something would have missing without it. I appreciate a bit of subtlety in my shows about freakin' huge phallic robots with drills penetrating things. Uhh, so yeah. Back to the action!

I know I'm late to the party here, but Dave Mallow posted in this thread?

Epic Win.

Maybe even more epic then the final episodes themselves, and that's saying a lot when you consider they had two giant robots flinging galaxies at one another.

Saw the dub last night. For a rush job, it doesn't sound like a rush dub. XD Steve Blum and Kyle Hebert are clear out stand-outs. Blum was hilarious as Leeron, and Kyle, while different from the seiyuu, gives a more down-to-earth performance as Kamina. Simon (Adult Simon especially) and Yoko are great. The script was spot-on. All in all, the dub rocked.

I will definitely grab the DVRAB

Heh, this girl reminRAB me of Melfina in Outlaw Star, except cheerful and already wearing clothes. Naive about everything, discovered in some box, the whole bit.
