"Gurren Lagann" On Sci-Fi's Ani-Monday Block - Talkback *MAJOR SPOILERS*

Yup, the very first time. Well, technically it was when ADV was streaming it subbed, but it doesn't really count since I couldn't get it to work after three minutes. GL's come a long way since then.

Usually I disagree with the otaku community when they rave about how great an anime is. This year lightening struck twice: First with Death Note and again with Gurren Lagann. Bandai goes to Sci Fi and makes a statement with Gurren Lagann ... and what a statement.

Aside from a slow start (most anime I've liked started slow) and some awkward transitions from the timeskips, I was never bored. This is the best mecha show I've seen since Big O. The mecha designs were incredibly detailed and were the most creative I've ever seen in any anime. The cast was made up of very distinct characters and the show overall had a stable balance of action, drama, and humor that kept me wanting more (Does the manga include more? Are their plans for movies/another season?). I think everything that can be said about that galactic battle from last night has already been said so I won't even try to come up with something better; All I can say is "Wow!!!".

With no doubts in my mind, Gurren Lagann is the best anime of 2008. I'd call this the most all around entertaining anime I've seen since Fullmetal Alchemist.

Why, it is what makes summary episodes fun.

Clip shows are welcomed when the narrator doesn't durab it down for you the whole time (lookin' at you, Bleach). Why do you think people make AMV's?

Oh okay.

Going off-topic for a moment, I feel like Bandai's not doing a great job with the manga. Volume 2's supposed to be released this month but now when I go to the Barnes and Noble website, it doesn't have any info on it. Some other websites have a complete summary of the Gurren Lagann series but with no cover of the book.

Rossiu...is a ******bag. I repeat: Rossiu is a ******bag. A very, very large ******bag. Honestly I bet it all stems from the fact that Nia likes Simon better, or that the guy just isn't getting any. What else could make somebody turn into such an ass? (other than ego, of course...although, I do enjoy his nice long time-skip hair). Not to mention he's infecting everybody else with his bastardyness. Yes yes lets keep Lord Genomes head in a bottle. *head/desk* This brings up angry memories of watching these episodes subbed god knows how long ago.

Onto the better notes, I love this time skip- everything after it automatically gets 10x more awesome. I love older Simon too, who, while appearing to have aged, still maintains that great boyish charm. Sadly Rossiu aged both in appearance and attitude. One of my favorite parts is when Simon calls him a durabass.
Bring on my Viral!

guh. things are going to be getting a little hectic D:

That is what made Gurren Lagann so ground breaking. Kamina's fate was set up up in such a way that violated the rules because of how it was pulled off. He did not feel like he was being set up as a red shirt.

VIRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL^_^ ~ and...epi...sode...4.../falls over. Good lord the art was bad there. I didn't remeraber it being so...awkward. It must be the fact that it's bigger on the TV >_

Same here. I mean.. I'm only 22, but I don't fawn over anime gals nearly as much as I used to back in the day. (It's weird saying back in the day..)

I remeraber drooling over the gals in Tenchi, rofl.

War, it brings out the darkest in all of us...

You know, I never thought I see a willing Human Wave Kamikaze attack. I didn't think anyone would be so stupid. Then this show proved other wise.

WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK HE IS?! HE'S THE STAR OF THE MOST EPIC ANIME EVER! And what an epic ending... As for the dub, Kyle Hebert as Kamina was best, but they all did great, including Yuri Lowenthal as Simon and Tony Oliver as narrator/elder Simon.

You mean Hare Hare Yukai, Momokete Sailor Fuku, and Caramelldansen?

And, really, YouTube Poop is one of the reasons memes got annoying to me. I... I just can't watch YouTube Poop. Sorry.
