"Gurren Lagann" On Sci-Fi's Ani-Monday Block - Talkback *MAJOR SPOILERS*

You know, I'm honestly surprised that there doesn't seem to have been any negative reaction to Nia at all yet. Back when these episodes first aired, there were cries of Nia hijacking the series and trying to replace Kamina (not helped by the new opening, which Sci-Fi seems to be skipping), and of course about her being a Mary Sue, yet I'm seeing none of that here.

Oh, and since I haven't seen it linked here, oddly enough, here's the "Nia-hijacked" opening.

Tonight, Gurren Lagann's second television run continues with the third and fourth episodes. Last week Simon and Kamina escaped the confines of their underground village, meeting Yoko in the process as well as defeating a monstrous Gunman with the diminutive mecha known as Lagann. The trio were soon attacked again but were luckily saved by frienRAB of Yoko, a resistance group of humans dedicated to fighting the Gunmen on the surface. In the following battle Kamina then managed to claim one of the enemy's gunmen for his own, deciding to name it Gurren. Sadly, soon afterward he discovered a devastating truth: the father that he hoped to meet on the surface had long since died.

This week, the trio's battle continues. Here's tonight's schedule:

11 PM: You Two-Faced Son of a *****!!
11:30 PM: Does Having So Many Faces Make You Great?

Crap. This is the Japanese TV version? GRRRRRRR

Now we have to deal with friggn' flasrabroadacks ALREADY.

Though the good thing is I don't have to see Gimmy anally violate Simon.

I hope they have the new opening animation for the next set of episodes.

I was never totally sold on Hebert as Kamina, but in the end he really brought the gooRAB to this episode and owned. Which is good because Kamina and this episode deserved no less.

KAMINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

The whole series should be like these episodes. I'll be honest: while Kamina is awesome, many of the episodes prior to his death were easily the weakest in the series. Too much absurdity, not enough awesomeness, mostly when it lacked Viral. Now the series practically overflows with hot blooded exploits with the typical Gainax excesses merely complementing that, as opposed to getting in the way.

More, please.

She's actually a bit of both, in a way. Due to her extremely sheltered and neglected upbringing, she's a bit of a blank slate (Eureka) and naive to the ways of the world (Starfire). This is especially evident in how she's almost like a baby or toddler that's just learning when she first appears.
